I went here for a Keratin treatment and it was the best decision I ever made! The treatment was Goldwell Kerasilk which doesn't straighten your hair completely but smoothes it and makes it manageable - and it sure did. My hair is naturally wavy but dry and frizzy - I COULDN'T wear it out unless I styled it which is hōha! The keratin process began with a wash, the product was applied, my hair was straightened (to lock in the magic) and then another wash. Afterwards my hair felt so smooth and soft, I had never felt it that way before! 2 weeks later and it's no longer drying straight (as expected) but it dries and for the first time in my life, I am able to wear my hair out without styling it! People keep complimenting my hair saying it looks nice and what have I done to it, thinking I dyed it or something, but I say no I just had an amazing keratin treatment - and I recommend Hana Akari 100%. The experience itself was calming and relaxing. The environment and atmosphere felt like a peaceful getaway, with dried flower arrangements and calm music playing. The beautiful smell of flowers and herbaceous oils floated down to the room. Yuki worked on my hair for maybe 3 hours and was very accomodating and kind. I was given a handwritten card afterwards with care instructions, and when I purchased the shampoo+conditioner care set, it was wrapped up with organic materials and had an extra gift inside with a handwritten note. This is not unnoticed and is the epitome of manaakitanga - caring and kindness. I will be back for sure and recommend this place to anyone who needs to inject some radiance and peace into their mane - or life! Thank you Yuki + team :)

An professional massage parlor operated by a Japanese therapist. The shop is very clean and you feel relaxed as soon as you enter the door. I tried the deep tissue massage and the Indian head massage with hydrogen therapy. Miki has great technique that releases the tensions in the muscles - especially after a long day of walking/shopping. There are also some Japanese products to purchase. I highly recommend anyone to visit if you are in Wellington and would like some time to relax and switch off. 👍👍

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and went to Hana Akari for the first time for a pregnancy massage. The massage itself was good the only thing I wasn't overly comfortable with was the cold reception when I walked through the door maskless as I didn't have a mask with me. Miki instantly asked me to put a mask on and I asked if she has one I could wear. She pointed to the box so I picked one out. She then asked me if I had received her text message about covid guidelines and at the time I was unsure what she was talking about and she asked if I'd read the terms and conditions when booking. I replied yes and apologized that I did not have a mask with me to walk in with. She then asked me to hand sanitize and she took my temperature. She took me down to the massage room and told me where to put my things. During the massage Miki put a towel over my head so I instantly became quite hot and congested from the heat with having my head and face covered. I created gaps to create some airflow. After the massage, Miki didn't engage in any conversation and I said thank you and left. Unfortunately I won't be returning due to this cold reception as I didn't feel 100% comfortable in...

The owner is weird. After the first visit, I actually liked Hana Akari. However, when incident happens, I then realised how awful a place this is. I cancelled one appointment due to having covid-like symptoms. The owner publicly said if you have symptoms, don't come. So I cancelled my appointment. Miki (the owner) said she will charge me the full amount for the cancellation. I asked her, "if you insist to charge me, I won't cancel, I can still come no problem, do you want me to?" She didn't reply any solutions what so ever. No text, no email reply. In my next visit, I was suddenly told I was be charged for that cancellation, which was $125 for a service I never received!!! It's extremely not transparent for what their policy is and the owner just wanted to get more easy money by taking advantage of people who's responsible for covid situations. I feel I was punished for being honest and responsible. Horrible experience!! Be...
