Dining out for a family of 6, we found this restaurant cos my 8 year old daughter was looking up places to eat on google whilst visiting Wellington. We took the plunge and glad we took the walk through the rain to get there. Did not dissapoint. We arrived with no booking close to 7pm for a table for 6. They were very accommodating and rearranged 2 tables to join for us. Service was good, fast and efficient. We had ordered hot & sour soup, 2x pork dumplings, wanton BBQ noodle soup, squid tentacles, salt & pepper prawns, tofu & vegetables and chicken fried rice. We wanted plain noodle soup, but none available, but they had modified one of their dishes to accommodate. Hot & Sour soup - plenty of ingredients that complimented each other well, with the exception of the bbq pork that sort of upset the flavour mildly. The hot and sour flavour was well balanced. Soup was very generous serving. Pork dumplings - good size dumplings, and not just meat. Was a nice blend and flavoursome as well, served with vinegar. Squid tentacles - descent serving, I found tad bit smaller than expected. It is an entree, so it is acceptable. Flavour was good Wanton BBQ noodle soup - soup flavour was good, with very descent sized wanton, good mixture of not just meat, and also flavoursome. Generous with vegetables too. Although they were not the traditional noodles we were expecting, it looks like egg pasta. Although that didn't ruin the dish, still worked out and the bowl was finished. Salt & pepper prawns - very well flavour with good balance of salt and pepper. Big descent size of prawns and well presented. Not too crispy or too soft, it was just right. Chicken fried rice - lacked the "wok hey" but flavour definitely was not dissapointing. Good balance between rice and ingredients, although the chicken could be cut smaller for a better balance of the ingredients.
Good value for 4 entrees and 5 mains, under $25 each, costed just over $130. Great value, small restaurant but clean and tidy. We were well looked after and our meal was great. Will definitely go back if we visit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately Im not one to write a bad review but me and three friends went here for dinner last Thursday, and two us ordered the hot and sour soup, when it came it was inedible, we both tried it once and was awful, the texture was thick like jelly with what seamed like clumps of gelatine, with very bland saltly flavour. Like any soup we were expecting a hot flavourful broth, and were shocked... it shouldn't have been served. I built up the courage and told the waitress that we weren't happy with it, and she just kept repeating that is what we ordered (i love hot and sour soup and that is not what we received). In the end she just grumpily took it from the table and didn't offer any replacement for me and our friends dinner. We went up to pay and weren't expecting to be charged for the soups as we couldn't eat it, but she said we had to pay. Overall bad experience as I'm broke student who can't afford to spend money on food I couldnāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYoung Shin has amazing, refreshing Chinese food. My first experience here was amazing, even though it was take away. Everything sounds delicious on the menu and because I couldn't decide, I ordered the BBQ pork wonton soup, chicken fried rice, and honey pork ribs. The soup was the best wonton soup I've had. The broth was tasty without being overly salted. The fried rice was delicious and paired nicely with the honey ribs. The honey ribs are a must have and are delicious. I was full after the wonton soup, but couldn't resist eating some rice and pork ribs. Not I have a great lunch or dinner for tomorrow. And they also included a handwritten thank you note in my takeaway bag! How thoughtful! I'll be ordering food from here again, maybe next time I can enjoy be it at...
