Oceans5

This was a nice discovery; highly recommended for a date night.

Located along Saka Tinubu Street, inside a walled and gated compound (same building with Riviera Hotel), this restaurant scores highly on ambience, lighting and aesthetics.

It is overwhelmingly picture-friendly, and that informed my choice to dine here. However, the food is good; portion sizes (especially for fries) are great and preparation time did not exceed 25 minutes.

I ordered the Rice & Beef Curry Sauce, sides of Plantain, Yam, French Fries, Egg White Rice, Chicken Wings, Coleslaw, Chapman, Margarita and two bottles of water. Bill was about N57,000 including a 5% Service Charge, 5% Consumption Tax and 7.5% VAT.

The menu (via QR Code) is a mix of Continental, Oriental, Indian…with the only Nigerian offerings being Jollof Rice and Peppersoups. There is an ample array of drinks too; cocktails, mocktails, wines, shooters, etc.

The waiter misinformed me upon our first engagement - which dampened the experience somewhat - but was honestly apologetic and tried to make up for it.

The rest room is clean, spacious and functional, with the main attraction for me being a radically-sculpted hand blow-drier which looks a tad weird. I’m guessing that I’m not the only person who it took a needless extra few seconds to figure how it works.

The compound is scenic, quiet and relaxing. There’s a pool, for guests who like to chill in close proximity to water.

Summarily, it was a good experience which I will likely...

The Riviera hotel is home to a hotel (of course); H2O ( a poolside with life band, outside bar and also a good spot for football lovers- you know the whole let’s chill and watch football on big projectors; it’s also home to aqua wok ( a DIY Asian restaurant). DIY because you can choose your base, top/ add-one etc and finally the oceans 5.

Oceans 5.

Day of visit: Wednesday Time: 9 ish

We had the middle /eastern lamb shank; butter chicken and butter nan; apple and walnut salad and bacon wrap prawn. Lots of food right? I know, we were two!

The ambience is good, the service is awesome- very polite and professional staff. The cocktails were nice but lacking alcohol ( as usual with most cocktails ).

The apple and walnut salad happens to be my fav, the lamb was way too tender ( extremely) but all the same fantastic. We also got 2 free shots from the bartender. Whoop! 🙌🏽 .

Downside:

There was a party happening the day I visited, unfortunately, the ladies and gents is one per gender. There was water and shoe marks on the floor which isn’t no fault of theirs but I expect the cleaners to visit the restrooms at intervals irrespective of the time of the day.

Ratings

I’ll give it a 31/2. But I doubt there’s half so I downgraded to 3 solely because of the restroom.

Fingers crossed, the place is maintained. I hope to give a review months down the line and the place is...

Had Sunday buffet at Oceans5 with a group of friends and here’s how my experience was.

Ambience- Very cozy with soft music playing in the background also very great for pictures and videos!

Service - We had a waiter for our table because we got the premium option for the buffet and he was very helpful. Also because it is a buffet we had to go and get our food by ourselves but our drinks and starters were brought to our table.

Food- We had lots of starters from shrimps to chicken wings to meat balls to samosa and everything was delish! The buffet spread didn’t have alot of options , I think they need to improve on that considering the price. Also they have a pasta station where the chef makes your pasta to your specification, which I think is very cool! All the food tasted really good.

Drinks - For the premium option of the buffet we had unlimited cocktails, mocktails and wines of our choice.

Price- Children - #15,000 unlimited food, soft drinks , juices and chapman Adults - #25,000 unlimited food , soft drinks, juices and chapman Adults- #35,000 covers bottomless cocktails , mocktails, wine, beer, fruit juice and unlimited food.

Overall- It was a pleasant experience, the food was great, the drinks were great, the ambiance was so cool but I would like to see more food options for the buffet.

I would...
