I’ve recommended this restaurant uncountable times after my visit.
I had visited Lagos thinking I’d have a stress free and peaceful stay but I ended up being really busy! Also, during the day and Lagos traffic didn’t help at all. I reached out to my friend, I needed a place to relax while having a cocktail and a meal. She recommended SABOR Lagos amongst others. After going through their Instagram pages, I picked @sabor.lagos. SABOR opened its door on the 18th of January 2018. Its name is a Spanish word for ‘flavor’. ———————————————— It’s interior and ambience is minimalist and cozy. It’s a small place that was properly worked on to give this really cool vibe. Indoor and outdoor terrace restaurant.
SABOR is basically in-between a bistro cause of its size and a restaurant cause of their price. ———————————————— I sat at the terrace, I was handed the menu almost immediately. The menu isn’t extensive, it’s pretty straight forward and short, there isn’t a lot to choose from actually. The menu is divided into seven parts; salads, mains, light bites, cocktails, mocktails, juice and soft drinks. It ranges from 400 - 13,000 Naira. ———————————————— My order - Rosemary Gin Fizz - 2900 Bbq chicken Lollipops - 3300 Chips
My cocktail was a recommended by the waiter, it was a combination of gin, grapefruit, prosecco and rosemary. The grapefruit hits you with your first sip then the Gin and prosecco creeps in, in a subtle manner. My bbq chicken lollipops, best! Properly marinated and soft. My chips weren’t soggy they were really alright. ———————————————— Ideal for meet ups, dinner dates, after work chills, birthday dinners etc ———————————————— Highly recommended -...

I had the jollof rice with the mixed vegetables and potatoes: Sabor Sundae as dessert. I requested orange juice but got pineapple juice instead so I wasn't too happy with that. It was a honest mistake since they sound alike.
The potato was truly divine and I'd be always have that whenever I visit; the jollof rice was surprisingly tasty since I didn't see anything about that in the reviews I read before going; the mixed vegetables was okay but overpriced in my opinion. This may be because I don't eat on the island very often. For some reason, what I understood from the menu was that it was some kind of soup so you can imagine my surprise when the meal arrived and I saw diced carrots, tomatoes and some other vegetables. It did go well with the jollof.
The Sabor Sundae was really awesome and definitely worth it if you have a sweet tooth. I love it so much that I forgot to take a picture
The ambience is one of the best parts in my opinion. It's especially really cozy in yhe evening with just the right lighting, romatic spot if you ask me with indoor and outdoor arrangement. The traditional furniture also adds a local touch to the overall setting. The staff are attentive, courteous, efficient.
If you want the famous pemne pasta, you had better go in the morning or early afternoon because it sells out really fast so I didn't even get to taste it.
I'm also not sure they deliver to the mainland even though their website says otherwise. I've ordered twice for mainland delivery and was not contacted neither did I get my order.
Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely...
Read moreThe supervisor (Shola)at post today is a dishonest man. Not sure of his name though, but that’s the name a security guard gave me He short changed me by over N12500 after accepting his offer to convert my dollars outside to settle my bill when the POS failed to work for my card. After saying the rate was N1600 to a dollar in the restaurant, I was expecting him to return with a change of at least N17,725 after settling my bill. Whiles out there he calls the lady who served us to say the money was just enough to settle the bill so we could leave. We insisted I had to get a change back so I’m waiting for his return. It took him forever to return, deliberately to frustrate us to leave, but we had time for him. Eventually he shows up saying the rate he got outside was N1300. I made him aware that he was lying because I had converted money at the airport on my arrival today and even got N1540 to the dollar. He was visibly unsettled by that information but still insisted on his lies. He finally gave me a change of N5000, far less than what he should have returned
This guy is preying on foreigners and spoiling the reputation and business of the restaurant. My sister and I are definitely not going back and all foreigners beware!!
I must add that the lady who served us was rather polite and offered...
