Unfortunately, just like some of the other reviews I’ve read, we had a similar experience. We were seated by the window near the entrance and waited at least 20 minutes before anyone from the staff approached us. Other customers who arrived after us were served earlier, which was quite frustrating.
When service finally came over, we were handed the menu and informed about the daily specials but then they disappeared again for another 15 minutes. Given the higher prices at this restaurant/bar, the service should reflect that standard. For example, when ordering a burger, it would be reasonable to ask about the preferred doneness of the meat. My only request was to have ketchup instead of the default sauce, but as you can see in the photo, that wasn’t honored. I was too hungry to send it back and didn’t want to make a fuss over the sauce.
As we didn’t want to waste any more time being ignored, I went to the bar to pay. I told them where we were sitting, and they didn’t even know what we had ordered. That said, the bartender was extremely kind, and the blonde-haired waitress who initially sent her colleague to serve us was also very polite and helpful. Honestly, the female staff were excellent 5 stars for them but everything else I’ve already mentioned speaks for itself.
The interior is very nice, but the service either needs more staff to manage the workload or better training. I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but in this case, it accurately reflects the service...
Read moreOur first night in Bergen was a bit of a disaster, and unfortunately, dinner didn’t turn things around. After a long journey from the U.S. and an early flight to Bergen, we were exhausted and dealing with what even locals called “horrible” weather—sideways rain and high winds.
We tried to get into a few restaurants along Bryggen but found them all packed, so we reluctantly decided to dine at our hotel’s restaurant. While the hotel itself was great, the restaurant was a major disappointment.
The main dining area was closed, so we were seated in the bar. The bartender seemed annoyed with us from the start, more interested in chatting with a friend than helping us. When we asked her about the fish and chips, her only response was, “They are fish and chips.” No help, no opinion—just indifference.
When the food arrived, the fish and chips turned out to be two frozen fish sticks—not what we expected, especially at such a high price. The ravioli was passable but far from impressive.
Overall, this experience was a letdown in every way. Unless you’re desperate or just looking for a drink, I’d strongly recommend steering clear...
Read moreProbably the worst service i have ever experienced anywhere. i dont know wether they are understaffed or just incapable, it is probably a bit of both. We started waiting for 15 minutes before we chased after the waiter to ask if we could see the menu or order a drink. Then 10 minutes later we finally got a menu, in a minute we knew what to order. But it took the waiter 10 minutes to walk by and we had to sign intensly to get the attention. The waiter took out its note block, and took our order. When after 25 minutes we still hadnt heard anything back from the waiter and had received no drinks and no food, I went inside to check on the order. Turns out the waiter had forgotten about our order, so after wasting an hour of our time we had nothing and left. And in the time we sat there mutiple groups came, sat down but after no waiter came for 10 to 15 minutes they left.
its really insane to me how you can ask these prices, but cant even give half decent service. Also the terrace was not even half full. The Wifi was...
