Where to start? You call the place italian, yet you have ready baked pizza buns easily visible in your filthy kitchen. I know they get in a oven at 200 degrees, yet it doesn't sound terribly exciting with the amount of flies that were in the restaurant when we visited it. I don't like to make a scene with my guests, but I was really ashamed. We were served by different people all the time, changing language all the time, mostly not norwegian. The confusion wasn't even funny. The two Italian talking guys in the kitchen were real slouch that used pre-baked pizza buns instead of doing their job, even though there was actually no rush compared to what a real pizzaiolo does. Other than that the place was not clean, the table wasn't properly washed, and there were at least 5 flies around for the whole dinner. Had it been some manager at the place I would have complained, but I saw no point as most of the staff was not even speaking norwegian. Never coming back, unless invited...
Read moreSuper convenient for eating out while staying at Comfort Hotel Strandgaten. Less than a minute door to door. Had a little sunny patio and plenty room indoors. Managed to accommodate a table of 9 on a Tuesday with a few hours notice. We had lots of different mains, arribiata pizza, rigatoni with pancetta, ravioli pasticiati, pappardelle and sides of garlic foccachia, everything arrived hot and was delicious and piping hot. We also had chocolate cake, limoncello sorbet and a tiramisu! Servers were exceptionally friendly and helpful, portion sizes were good and prices were very fair and not overly expensive compared to other restaurants we’ve eaten in this week. Plenty English speaking staff if you’re not local. Card payment available and helped us to split bill. Highly...
Read moreI recently dined at De Stefano in Bergen and was thoroughly disappointed. The pizza dough was still wet, indicating it didn’t stay in the oven long enough. Considering they use electric ovens, this is unacceptable. The toppings on the Tyrranosaurus Pizza were very basic, resembling pepperoni and ham from the local supermarket.
For dessert, I ordered a tiramisu for almost 200 NOK. What I received was a small glass that was very disappointing for the price. Instead of the expected mascarpone, it was just whipped cream, and the ladyfingers were soggy from being soaked in espresso for too long.
Overall, the experience was underwhelming, especially given the premium prices they charge. I would not recommend De Stefano to anyone looking for a...
