Visiting this attraction was definitely an experience. Located on the outskirts of town, the setting felt a bit unusual and slightly out of place. The concept is clever, but it leans toward the cheesy side, and I had expected a bit more based on the online photos, which make it look more impressive than it actually is. Admission was around $30 per person, though I later learned that a Bergen Card offers a discount, which would’ve been nice to know beforehand. Upon arrival, they provide warm poncho-style coats and gloves, which are absolutely necessary. because you’re essentially stepping into a giant freezer. The ice sculptures are creative and change periodically,. Unfortunately, some were broken during our visit, likely due to wear and tear from guests. Adding to the disappointment, the machine that makes the signature ice glasses was out of order that night, so we missed out on that part of the experience. The bartender did mention the drinks were larger as a result, which was a small consolation. Drink options were fun, but don’t expect too much as they are on the light side. I also agree with other reviewers, in that the staff could bring more energy and enthusiasm, which would go a long way in enhancing the overall vibe. All in all, it’s a quirky stop that’s worth checking out if you’re curious, but temper your...
Read moreIt’s certainly novel and worth giving a try. It’s definitely unlike any other bar experience. The drinks are not exceptional, but you’re paying to drink while inside a large freezer with ice sculptures, not for high-end cocktails. The Bergen location (they have locations in other cities) is on the small side. Avoid going on Monday nights - my wife and I arrived around 9 p.m. and we were the only ones there other than the bartender. While it was nice having the entire place to ourselves, it was also a little awkward. The bartender said that Monday nights were the slowest. Plan on spending 30-60 minutes at most. One final word of advice – bring and use your own gloves if you have them. The bar provides fleece-lined ponchos and cotton gloves to help you stay warm, but both my wife and I had what looked like mild chemical burns (red, peeling skin) on our palms the next two days after our visit. I suspect the gloves had not been completely rinsed after washing...
Read moreVisiting Magic Ice Bar Bergen is a one-of-a-kind experience! From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by incredible ice sculptures, glowing lights, and an atmosphere that feels like stepping into a frozen fairytale. Some of the sculptures are truly impressive—like the giant statue of two skeletons locked in a passionate kiss, which is both romantic and a little eerie. There’s also a stunning Nordic woman, a thoughtful-looking Einstein, and even delicate flowers frozen in the ice.
The staff provide you with a warm poncho and gloves, which you’ll definitely need since everything—walls, tables, chairs, and even the glasses—is made of ice! The welcome drink is a fun touch, and the cocktails are delicious.
It’s a novelty experience, so you likely won’t stay for hours, but it’s an absolute must-visit if you're in Bergen. Whether you're there for the drinks, the art, or just some fun photos, Magic Ice Bar is a cool (literally!) and...
