Unfortunately had a very bad experience today with Dr. Wiesener. Due to a mix up on the reservation, me and my girlfriend ended up showing earlier than they expected (but not earlier than our reservation). Still a reservation was present, just later. As no table inside was available at that moment, a lady of the staff gave us the option to get an outside table, where there was plenty of availability. We were about to accept when a lady came out of the kitchen and told us harshly that there were too many people and therefore the kitchen was closed, basically kicking us out. Kitchen closed at 730pm? What I regret was the totally unnecessary rudeness. Mistakes and misunderstandings can happen, but when there are no arguing and no disrespect a solution is sure to be found, and this was going to be the case. Still, on the bright we ended up having an amazing dinner in another place that is getting our 5 stars for the evening. I've been to many restaurants around the world and had my share of bad experiences but this one in Bergen has to be placed among the top 5 worst customer experiences of my not-so-short life - so, for this at least,...
Read moreBy the feel of it, this place does not need any reviews because it is so popular with locals and guests of the locals :) But we want to leave a note of our pleasant experience in this small but mighty place. I enjoyed my Persetorsk which is essentially cod that has been cooked until it flakes easily and resembles pearls. It was served with boiled potatoes with eggs on top, sliced carrots and a wonderful purée of some green vegetables. The Menü of the place can change based on the ingredients available. So my husband wanted to try sausages, however they were not on the menu. Luckily, the restaurant was planning to serve them to showcase new beer and had already prepped for that, so we were served sausages, which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. It’s away from the cruise crowds but full of relaxing atmosphere....
Read moreThis place is located up a hill just behind the Bryggen wooden houses overlooking the Bryggen area of Bergen. This restaurant/pub is located in what looks like a local home. You walk up to the stairs into this charming house with inside and outdoor seating. The menu is small which I love because it usually means whatever is on the menu is going to be pretty good. We enjoyed a yummy late lunch and treated ourselves to the delicious cheesecake after. There was a good selection of beer that we enjoyed as well. Service was very pleasant and everything served up in a as timely manner. Wish we had found tor’s place earlier on during our stay, definitely would have visited more than once. Would highly recommend and hope to...
