The most beautiful fjord views in Bergen!
This great café in my hometown is located on the pier accommodating Bergen's largest outdoor restaurant in the summertime, where the guests can enjoy the most beautiful fjord views as well as the sunset.
The peaceful location and excellent sea views are the main advantage of this cafe. It is sufficiently well hidden to avoid being overrun by tourists.....and the main clientele are locals.
Dozens of tables line the seafront, some shaded by sun parasols, and there is no passing traffic to detract from the peacefulness. Many people arrive at the cafe by bicycle.....as can be seen by the long row of bicycles parked up next to the cafe.
I have been to this restaurant several times. This time I taste the Cod and bacon menu (see attached photos). For the price of 149 NOK it was a great choice.
Kafe Kippers is one of the best cafes for an outdoor drink and something to eat on a sunny Bergen day!

And when the only gluten free option is a risotto which came too much al dente, very small portion, hardly cheesed up and with very few veggies added. Nay.....not tempted to go again. Even though eating on the terasse on superb summer...
Read moreFantastic location, particularly on a sunny day, but we felt the menu unfortunately let the place down. In terms of drinks, there weren’t really that many options, and the food was greasy. We had the sardines served with bread and butter. The bread had been deep fried in oil, the sardines were served in oil and it was served with butter and a slice of lemon, all a bit tasteless, not even a squeeze of lemon could cut through the oil. A side salad was on the online menu which would have helped, but this wasn’t on the menu in the restaurant when we arrived. All in all - a good place for a drink in the sun, but it...
