I really wanted to love this Tuscany restaurant, I was however disappointed in many things. Lets get the good out of the way quickly, the food was in fact great. Also I want to address something I have read on other comments here that the stuff is rude and pushy, they were not at all to my humble opinion. They were friendly and quick and the food came very quickly. However it is severely overpriced for what other high quality or on the same and even bigger caliber restaurants offer in Oslo.
As soon as we arrived we were shown to our seats, to what I felt like was the worst table in the whole restaurant. There were many other available of the same size so I don't know why we got stuck right against the wall where we could barely eat without our elbows hitting the wall.
When our mains came which were just a T-Bone steak , potatoes and a salad they couldnât even fit in the table! And we didn't have wines or otherwise a crowded surface so that was interesting. Lets say I felt that I have eaten more comfortably in the economy seat of an airplane. I am not sure how waiters distribute the flow of customers, but we had booked this reservation days ago so its not like we just walked in and they had to seat us wherever, in what it looked like an empty restaurant due to arriving shortly after opening.
When it comes to the food my biggest surprise came when we ordered the stracciatella cheese as a starter which was a whopping a 225NOK. It came in a small bowl with a spoon. Thats it. No bread, nothing to eat it with. Its not a yogurt to spoon in to your mouth, I am not sure what a restaurant in Tuscany would pair this starter with, but I am sure ânothing but airâ wouldnât be it. I was stupefied also when the waiters kept coming back asking if we wanted for them to clean the table before the main came. Does it look like I am going to spoon the cream curdled mozzarella in my mouth with a spoon? We didn't touch it until the potatoes came so we could at least have a vessel to eat the cheese with. The taste of the cheese was good but I have eaten the same of a good quality Italian store bought for 1/4th of the price.
For the main as I said we chose the T-Bone steak for two which came at an almost 700NOK per person. Nicely done and the flavour was great. However, we had to order the potatoes and salad separately, another 240NOK extra, which were also very tasty butâŠthey were just some lettuce leaves and some vinaigrette and oven baked crispy potatoes. I do not see how the price matches this offering and at this point I have to be honest, with such a price tag for the steak I would expect the potatoes and salad to come with, again like many other restaurants do in Oslo.
The reason however I actually went to the restaurant was their homemade tiramisu that is made in a big pan and kept on its own refrigerated drawer. Slightly runny but the taste was amazing so if I am ever dragged back to this restaurant I might order it for starter main and dessert as well.
All in all we paid a whopping 2200 NOK for basically a small starter and steak for main without having any alcohol or drinks beside water. You judge if you want to repeat...
Read moreThis was a miss for us, unfortunately. We had the wild boar and chicken pate which were average and then the penne arrabiatta which tasted like any store bought pasta. The service was very friendly but slow. At the end of the night we were overcharged 700 nok so we had to pop back into the restaurant to get it fixed. It was fixed immediately. All in all we are unlikely to return due to the food, which is a shame, as we were hopeful to find a new...
