Swan is the quintessential Thai fine dining experience in oslo City.... the moment you step foot in this remarkable restaurant located in the upscale frogner neighbourhood, you feel transformed into the charming and magical place that is Thiland!
The restaurant is classy yet welcoming and carries the true essence of fine thai hospitality ... from the moment you are welcomed into this place you can tell that this is not going to be another thai meal in another European city you visit as a tourist!
Swan is a fusion thai place with authentic flavours and innovative cooking techniques ... we were guided by our server through the menu, and we ended up ordering the grilled prwans for starter, and it was definitely the best we ever had anywhere! We also had their spring rolls, which were light, fresh, and delightful ... it felt like we were eating clouds from how light the rolls were! .... for the main we had their coveted must try pulled duck which was also the best we ever had anywhere and we had alot of thai food around the world over the years .... what was truly unique about this plate is that it was duck without skin, and it was as delicious as the traditional duck with skin ... that is a testament to how the duck meat was prepared in this case ... kudos to the chef behind this master piece 👏
We also had their stirfry beef and vegetables, and the smell itself was enough to make us fall for this without even tasting it.
The closing of our meal was as good and as special as the beginning, middle parts of this meal .... the chocolate mousse with berries and strawberry/raspberry reduction was to die for and also the best we ever had anywhere!
Swan is food for the soul ... it is thai fusion at its best and an experience you must not skip if you are a thai food lover who happened...
Read moreAwful experience. I went with my long distance partner last week to celebrate our anniversary and was shocked at the treatment we got. We ordered the set menus and the wait was agonizingly long between the second course and the third course (90+ mins).
When we asked about the dish we got told that “the chef didn’t know” when it would come. Our dinner started at 7:30 and ended at almost 11:00!
We had to complain twice to get two glasses of wine off the bill, given the long wait (we never do that, but felt it was warranted given how much we had to wait. The head waiter was unbelievably rude, as he never apologized, leaving the job to the junior waiter, but of course as we came out of the restaurant we saw him smiling and chatting with other guests in Norwegian. Clearly WE weren’t worthy of an apology.
For the price premium, this did not feel like a premium...
Read moreThe Papaya and Mango Salad "Som Tam" with Crispy Duck was the highlight of the meal. The fresh and tangy flavor of the salad was perfectly balanced with the pan-fried duck breast on top. The duck was ready-made, but still tasted good.
For our main course, we ordered the massive Tomahawk Steak, which was approximately 800g. It was cooked to medium-plus, even though we didn't specify the doneness, but it still had a nice pink center. The steak had a rich, beefy flavor that was complemented well by a bed of vegetables and mushrooms. And a side of yam fries and dips, although the yam fries were a bit underwhelming.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Sawan. The food was flavorful and satisfying, and the service was friendly...
