Came with a friend, we both ordered a crispy duck. Food was decent and was even good——better than I expected. The waitress, probably also the owner, was kind of curt and dismissive, to say the least. But she’s not just curt and dismissive to me, but rather equally so to everyone, so I guess that’s just her personality or ways of dealing with people in general.
In the beginning, it felt a bit uncomfortable. But at the same time you have to admit her succinctness has led to better efficiency. She’s quite responsive when we need extra sauce for our duck. And maybe that’s also why the bathroom is spotlessly clean. Hardworking, efficient, yet a bit on the verge of being a bit rude. All in all, if you’re familiar with the typical Chinese/Asian working class culture, this place has something very close to some sort of “tough love” family atmosphere. Will consider coming back...
Read moreI heard about this place some years ago and I haven't had the time to go and visit until now. The place is not very big but has a place for some big groups in a separate room. The interiors are a bit old. They might need a fresh up... but I was there for the food... and the wine! Yes, you heard me: WINE. Let's start with the food. They have a menu that offers a la cart or a fast set of courses. The food came out fast, warm, crispy, and delicious. Full of flavors, just like I imagine Chinese food should be. I love dumplings, so I asked a refill for some of them. It was no problem. Let's talk about wine: what an incredible winelist they have! For being a Chinese restaurant, you wouldn't expect to see so much classic burgundy and USA wines.. also, some of them to an incredible price! 😲 worth a visit...
Read moreCame with my family to enjoy a dinner. Was welcomed at the door and seated immediately, good first impression of staff and locale.
Was helped to ordering from the rather large menu of Dim sum, sushi and other Chinese/Asian dishes from head waiter.
Food was vibrant in colors, taste was really showing us the best of these dishes. All made to order, fresh produce all over.
Beijing Palace has a wide list of wines by the glass, as well as a gem of a cellar list (by the bottle), giving the wine aficionados the chance to taste the best of Burgundy, Bordeaux and other reigning regions paired to each dish.
Recommended, we will definitely be coming...
