My family and I came into this restaurant Really hungry, and when we arrived at the restaurant, there was a sign that said feel free to take a seat and we will help you so we went in to take a seat and we immediately bombarded by the servant telling us to wait one minute and wait one second until we will be seated, so we waited until she came and told us that they weren’t any tables left. Even though there are 2-3 tables right in front of us, they just weren’t covered by an umbrella (it was raining quite heavily). once we sat down it took about five whole minutes for the waitress to come up to us and give us the menus, we were surprised by her snarky attitude. Every time we were we would ask her for one thing that was a part of her job for example ordering food from the menu she gave us such a weird attitude and was very rude. She also happened to roll her eyes at us several times. After we had ordered, we sat in the restaurant waiting for 50 minutes until the food came all the while that same waitress was just standing around when she wasn’t helping a table. She was just standing there so we went up and asked her where our food was and she said oh I didn’t check up in the kitchen I should go, so we said please go check the kitchen or we will leave the restaurant because it’s been too long and we have not received our Food. We told her that we were going to leave the restaurant rightfully so if we didn’t receive our food thankfully she got the memo and brought us our food. Finally the food was okay. It was average and it was slightly cold since she didn’t bring it on time after finishing the food, we asked for the cheque, I took her another 15 minutes to just bring us the check so we can pay and leave the restaurant. I cannot believe the service so horrible and not deserving of...
Read moreI acknowledge that my review is based on a 1-time experience that happened on Dec 25th(Christmas day). However, that doesn’t excuse the bad service. My friend and I sat outside and it was packed. We waited for over 10min to be served and had to flag down a waiter to serve us. The drinks were lovely and I highly recommend the mulled wine but the reindeer tasted off and the carrots were unseasoned. The gravy was excellent! Then a drunk man bumps into my friend(who is a woman) and won’t get out of her space so I ask him to move and he just frowns at me, ignores me and continues to lean over my friend who is seated. Then he talks to one of the servers and it looked like they actually knew each other. Maybe he worked there as well but his behavior was highly inappropriate. The reason I’m writing this review though is that we had to again flag someone down to get our bill and when I went to pay they didn’t tell me that a tip was already included in the charges so I tipped on top of that. I’m from the US and there the standard is 15-20%. Having worked for over 5yrs in the service industry I always do at least 20% and try to keep that the same no matter where I travel but when the charge popped up on my credit card I double checked the receipt and was highly upset. In other countries I’ve been to they will let you know if a tip is already added on when you go to pay but they didn’t say anything. In fact they barely made eye contact with me and seemed irritated we were there. Overall the experience was not good enough to go back and the service needs to be improved and as a Black femme-assumed person who travels alone I would recommend solo travelers stay away...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Caffè Cathedral in Oslo with my family, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service that made us feel right at home.
The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, perfect for a family gathering. We chose a variety of dishes to share, and everything was simply delicious. The pasta was perfectly cooked, with a rich sauce that delighted our palates. The dish featuring reindeer was a unique treat; it was tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented, showcasing the culinary richness of the region. The salmon dish was equally impressive, featuring fresh, high-quality fish that melted in our mouths.
Every bite was a celebration of flavors, and we couldn't have asked for better service. The staff was incredibly attentive, offering recommendations and ensuring our dining experience was seamless. It's clear that they take pride in their work, and it made all the difference.
Only one weak point, the space available in the inside area, too many tables and too much close between each others, there absolutely no privacy.
Overall, I highly recommend Caffè Cathedral for anyone looking to enjoy a lovely family dinner in Oslo. With fantastic food and wonderful service, it's a place where great memories are made. We can't...
