Was looking forward to trying this place, based on the reviews. The fish and chips was not as great as reviews claimed (maybe the standard is super-low in Norway, or they haven't tried good fish and chips?). The portion is too small for the price, the small piece of fish was somewhat dry, and the chips are not the thick-cut homestyle type seen in photos for this place, but a more generic thin type (see photo). You have to eat it with a paper plate, flimsy wooden cutlery, and no supplied napkins. There has to be better fish and chips in the city than this. It's unbelievable that their score was 4.9, unless they have changed things for the worse quite recently. The venue, Salt, is annoying. First, they demanded to check my bag on entry. Then you have to choose a table then order & pay online. I wanted to pay cash, so of course the table I ordered to was taken by someone else while I ordered at the bar inside. The whole process is annoying; certainly not easier than the old-fashioned way.

Very disappointed. After reading the reviews and seeing the pictures from the Vippa location I was excited to try this place for the first time. The chips are not the same, the fish was a very small portion. Batter was nice and crunchy but extremely salty (or maybe was the fish). Anyway the chips were also way too salty and unremarkable. The whole dish was (salty and unremarkable) . Not enjoyable... And at 215 nok per portion... Outrageous

Saw lots of good reviews so came and tried the fish and chips, however we were really disappointed. When the fish and chips arrived, the fish was only about half of the size from the others which gave the reviews. You can see it in the photo. The sauce for the mussels was really tasty but unfortunately both the fish and mussels were not very fresh.

I'm an English lady living in Oslo for over 5 years now. These are the best fish and chips you'll find in the city.

Fish - delicious and perfectly cooked. Batter - bubbly, crispy, just the right amount. Mushy peas - authentic and with a hint of mint, and not those awful mashed/dehydrated ones I keep experiencing in other restaurants that seem to come out of a tin. Tartar sauce - actual tartar sauce and not just an aioli with too much vinegar. Chips - crispy and fried to perfection.

Portion size - I'm currently 8 1/2 months pregnant writing this at the time, and the portion size was perfect for me. Absolute...
