Eight Rooftop bar — Restaurant in Oslo

After being politely shown the door on our first visit, stating no kids after 7 pm, we were told to return the next day before 7, to try out their cocktails (and also to checkout the view) from their rooftop. Its a pretty difficult sell for a rooftop bar to a New Yorker, but then every rooftop also tells a story!

And what a wonderful story it was! Nestled on the Eight floor of Grand Hotel, is this really well decorated rooftop bar with an amazing menu. A pretty fancy menu explains the different flavor profiles to order from along with ABV's - something we never saw on a cocktail menu!

Docking one star only because they couldn't make the cocktail that I really wanted - a Rum Old Fashioned. Tried The Etoile (Penicillin) instead, which was very nice too and so was the counting sheep (Whiskey Sour). The views on a rainy/overcast day were pretty good too and we could only imagine how spectacular summer days in Oslo could be from this rooftop!

Fantastic location! With scenic views, nice outdoor high tops and lounge seats with heaters. There is also indoor seating for cooler days. The bar is spread out with a nice selection of bubbles, spirits and cocktails.

The old fashioned (Knob creek Rye) was well made with a almost clear round ice ball. I had 3 of those. On the 3rd one there was a small bug (fruit fly) in my drink so I had to return it and the bartender gave me another one without an apology or comp for a drink. 🥃

Overall a good place. Gave it 4 stars for the bug in my drink and the service staff...

Beautiful rooftop view, but the service at was incredibly disappointing. Despite the terrace being nearly empty, the waiter kept approaching only us multiple times to push another drink before we even finished our first, while a white woman nearby sat undisturbed with one drink the entire time. The double standard was glaring and made the experience uncomfortable. I go to bars regularly and have never been treated like this. Not worth 210 kr or the...
