The staff (namely the one waitress greeting us, blonde, curly hair, pretty confudent the one described by all the other unfavourable reviews) made the whole experience very unpleasant. First she insisted we look at the menus before even entering the very clearly empty restaurant because „maybe we’re confused and want to go to the cafe” and then left, making us stand in the hallway for no reason. When we asked if we can decide at the table she was clearly annoyed and went to „make the table for us even though the are a lot of reservations” which actually meant putting 3 glasses on the nearest one and that’s it. She also kept asking if we want food „a la carte” which I kind of knew what it meant but wasn’t sure if I was correct and when asked to clarify the waitress did a snobish face, asked if „we don’t know what a la carte is?” A just didn’t explain anything. Later when one person in our party ordered wine the waitress was extremally condesending about that person „not tasting it properly” and very seriously started teaching her how to do it which we at first thought was a joke but it very much wasn’t. Throughout the whole stay she kept bugging us whether the wine was good and saying „clearly” in a sny way. Finally at the end she left the payment terminal with me which she basically insisted I operate myself, which I have no idea if it’s standard practice (has not been in any other place in Oslo thus far) and basically trying to force me to leave her a tip, all the while she was standing at the desk talking to a cook. I’d recommend not having the only person dealing with customers making them feel inferior for not „getting” your restaurant.
Apart from that the food was fine, albeit pricy for the portion sizes. The menu is a bit confusing, especially the concept of „shared experience” which if it requires the staff explaining, maybe should be changed in the actual menu to reflect reality.
Also toilets are located in a lower level reached by an elevator also used by reastaurant staff and two of us became trapped in it unable to leave because supply was blocking...
Read moreVisited here with a friend on a Saturday for lunch as it was conveniently located just opposite our hotel in the city centre. The decor and atmosphere seemed really nice too, so we gave it a try. Despite our high hopes based on the reviews, I’m sad to say the experience left us both unimpressed. We found the staff inattentive and uncaring; we were clearly not Norwegian speakers but weren’t handed English menus and had to resort to vigorous flag waving techniques to get the attention of our server to ask for them, then had to wait almost 10 minutes for the menus! As for the food, my friend’s salad and waffles was far too salty and rich in mayo, she couldn’t eat for 24 hours afterwards. I had the fish soup, which initially got to our table cold. Since we were never asked about how the food was, I had to do the pantomime again to catch our waiter’s eyes. Once I brought up the issue, it was taken back to the kitchen and brought back 15 minutes later and without an apology (lucky that my friend’s dish was a cold one, so she could wait for us to eat together). The soup was far too full of cream and lacked any flavour, all you could taste was salty cream. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t try this place again personally and wouldn’t...
Read moreOkay food quality paired with one of the lousiest Waitress B (Natalja - base on the receipt, and if you read the other reviews objectively you can pretty much easily pinpoint down to this One and Only “awesome” waitress) attitude who is discriminating, obnoxious and rude af. We were greeted by waitress A with Sentralen’s menu and extra verbal info that pizza menu is serve from their other cafe so we had the impression that they can serve pizza from the cafe too since they told us this piece of info else why share this extra info to confuse diners. Waitress B came to take our order. After we ordered a few Sentralen’s dishes we asked what are the pizza options available and She gave a judgy and disgusted face if we want to order pizza please proceed to the other cafe we do not serve pizza here. We couldn’t be bothered to fill her in on the backstory. So if you want to have an eye opening dining experience I highly recommend this place for a unique Oslo experience 😉 Else I’d suggest to go to...
