The latest addition to the restaurant scene in Stavanger burgers & beers The location is excellent in many ways – on the harbor, surrounded by lots of restaurants and bars – and with a very lively atmosphere. The old sea house is also very charming – when you enter it looks like it is the original 16th century woodwork that is keeping the house together! From what I can remember, there has not been that many changes to the interior since burgers & beers took over the place.
We were greeted and seated pretty fast and got to order drinks fast from an English speaking waiter. The menu is not extensive - it is burgers with sides basically. We ordered the B&B classic with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. It didn’t take long before the burgers were served. The meat is delivered by the local butcher Idsøe which is great – it is good to see there is a focus on using local products. The sweet potato fries were excellent in my opinion – fresh made, good consistency and great taste. The coleslaw was good, but the vegetables were in microscopic pieces. I would have enjoyed some bigger chunks to actually taste the various ingredients. The burger came with a nice piece of bacon on it, cheese and it was topped with good chunks of vegetables (tomato, lettuce, onion). My burger was fried to medium and I enjoyed this – but my dinner date found her burger to be a bit too rare for her liking. I guess it would have been good if the waiter had asked how we wanted it.
All in all, I was quite happy with my burger and I would not mind going there again. But having said that, I’m not sure if that is enough to keep this place going. The menu is limited, and it does not different that much from the other burger...
Read moreThis is a bar and restaurant located centrally near the harbour area. They have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating space. The waitress was friendly and I was quickly seated.
I ordered there crispy fish burger with fries. It came within 10 minutes of my order similar to a fast food burger place. However the meal was leagues above a fast food joint. The fries for me were perfect, similar to what I have had in Belgium. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, and medium thickness. These were likely double fried. They were not hot, and yet not oil, certainly made recently. They were well seasoned, however, the fries at the bottom had too much salt, the top fries were perfect.
The lemon mayo sauce was tasty and the flavours were balanced. I was surprised that it did not taste like store bought mayo, potentially homemade mayo or diluted somehow. I liked the sauce.
The burger itself was excellent. It held it's shape very nicely. The fish was crispy as advertised. There were to crispy fish patties, so it was very filling. It was well seasoned with a good balance of flavours. I enjoyed it.
I have been to many of the other burger restaurants, and this has to be one of my...
Read moreMe and my friend came in asking if there was a table for us upstairs as we were looking for some food and drinks. A very rude member of staff, a tall bold guy, told us there was no serving upstairs. We still asked if we could go say hi to our friends upstairs, which he agreed to. We then saw there was full serving upstairs and we could order what we wanted through the QR-code on the table. Why he would blatantly lie to us I dont know but maybe they did not want customers? We were then served, as all the others up there, by a grumpy and equally rude waiter who clearly didnt appreciate people spending money at their workplace.
The staff in the bar downstairs were friendly and welcoming.
After walking out of there, standing outside listening to the live music, the first guy looked at me and walked straight into me with his tray, which is where my patience with these guys ran out and I told him off. Terrible place that I wouldn't recommend to anyone! Never had any bad experiences with the other places along the dock but I recommend anyone to stay away...
