It has been a few years since I've been to Phileas Fogg but it was good to see that not much has changed. The interior is still inspired by Jules Verneâs novel âAround the world in Eighty daysâ and this means that the menu can cover a lot of cuisines. So here you can find Norwegian food (Iâm not quite sure I would call Moules Frites Norwegian though), American food, Mexican and Italian (read pizza). We went there on a weekday at about 6 PM were greeted in a friendly way and taken to our table. Our glasses of white wine were a bit colder than I would have liked but the food was served quite fast. My Moules frites were served in a practical pot and I enjoyed the mussels and the creamy sauce. The fries were not bad but could have been a bit crisper. My companion had âFrench Quartersâ â chicken served with chanterelle sauce, vegetables, and potatoes. This was good but appeared to be a bit bland. All in all we had a good meal in a fun âtheme restaurantâ. I think the place works better for larger groups just wanting to enjoy some comfort food together, but I would not mind visiting again to try out other items...
Read moreThis restarants is very close to Stavanger centrum. You can get there by bus, train or drive. There are few car parking places around the restaurants. I had already booked the table and it is advisable to do so. This is a theme restarant and spacious as well. One meter distance is marked and we waited to be seated. They give you a paper to write your name, phone number and time for corona time. We had a nice place to sit and the menu can be scanned on to your phone. As a vegetarian (no egg, no fish and no meat) there was only one option pizza!! Which was bit sad. So if you are a vegetarian then you don't have much choice. I went with my colleagues so it not much of a food but meeting them, still I would be happy if there was few option atleast as there are many vegetarian and vegan people out there. Something to consider Phileas Fogg. Service was good and quick. It was not overly crowded which was good. We had a good time. 4 star because of the...
Read moreThis is a large restaurant with a nice atmosphere. I liked the decor and lighting.
I ordered the fish soup which is cooked with the catch of the day. It was served with pita bread and a garlic sauce. I loved the garlic sauce, it was creamy, and had strong garlic flavour, but was not pungent. The fish soup included fish, mussels, and baby shrimp. It was garnished with olive oil and dill. Overall it was delicious and very tasty. It was salty, acidic, and creamy. Usually fish soup will have oils released by the fish from the stock, I do not think I saw the oil bubbles in the soup (aside from the olive oil), but that might be because the soup was cream heavy. All ingredients tasted fresh, the fish was very tender and cooked well. The portion size of the soup was a bit smaller than I expected, but the overall meal with the pita and garlic sauce was just the right size.
They are a bit pricey, although I think it is justified given the quality...
