Food is amazing but the place is chaotic, the space between the tables is very narrow (is it even safe to have tables like that? What if there's an emergency?). Staff was nice, but a bit too obsessive: I wanted to have dinner with my husband, not with him and the waiters! In exactly 64 Minutes that we have been there, the staff kept interrupting our conversation, coming to the table 6 times... Which means, once every 10 minutes. We had a reservation, and it is clearly stated we could have had the table for 2 hours... But except for the orders (taking and delivering them), the waiters kept coming and going asking us constantly if everything was fine, if we wanted to order something else, and for as much as they could have wanted to make us feel pampered (and to get us put asap to take new costumers, I know the technique as I worked in this business before), the result was that a date with my husband became a conversation á trois with the waiters. We left and ended our date somewhere else, as it felt a bit too much. This doesn't mean the food wasn't good. It was the best pizza ever. Just, for the staff... Less is more! Guests might or might not appreciate your "kindness", but after the 3rd "Is everything fine" while we still have food on our dish, it is no longer...
Read moreI had the Napalitano pizza. This was a tomato based pizza with olives and anchovies. The style is authentic Italian, with a delicious thick and crunchy crust, yet a thin and soft in the center. Each slice feels light. It was warm, but not too hot, and easy to eat. The portion size was great, it was filling for 1 person, and the prices are very fair.
The ingredients felt fresh and the overall pizza was tasty. Some bites of the pizza were delicious and the flavours were well balanced. However, I did feel certain parts of the pizza were really salty. I loved the crust and the well balanced part of the pizza, but did not enjoy bites of the pizza where the salty flavour over powered everything else. I do not think the saltiness was from eating olives or anchovies, but rather it felt the sauce on parts of the pizza or whatever seasoning was used was really salty. So it was hard to predict whether the bite would be well balanced or very salty. Maybe this was by design for this style of pizza. I will be back to try their other pizzas.
I took a photo of the pizza with my phone (photo #1) and also my personal camera (photo #4). The one taken with camera is more true to life of...
Read moreFargegata is the laidback bar street in Stavanger, and it is especially great there on a warm summer day. So far there has been a lot of focus on beer and cocktails, but just a few days ago Citra opened in the middle of Fargegata. They're also going to have beer (and actually brew their own beer) but they have installed a pizza oven and hence they have proper pizza on the menu. In addition, they have some wine on the menu (a lot of Italian) and a pretty fun wine cellar! A door on the floor can be opened and leads down to the basement and one can look down through a glass floor. I stopped by on the opening day and it looked like the staff were in control. They have tables both upstairs, on the ground floor and outside so there is room for quite a few people in the restaurant. My Quattro Formaggi was of decent size to my liking, and it came with a well-defined crust that was delicious. They used mozzarella, Fønix blue cheese, Gruyere and Parmesan so there was nothing to complain about regarding the cheese selection. All in all, this was very good! Congratulations on opening a new restaurant in Fargegata Citra and thank you...
