This is a large dine-in Mexican restaurant. The interior is very colourful, and it has a unique fun vibe fitting for both young and old people, music playing in the background. I randomly came across the restaurant as they were open fairly late relative to other restaurants.
The staff was friendly and I was seated right away. The waiter brought nachos and salsa. The salsa was fresh and homemade, and nachos were crispy. These were free and great!
They had a small menu and all their mains were over 300 kr. I ordered the grilled entrecote (rib eye) as I wanted to treat myself today. The food took a while to arrive, around 30 minutes. Although it was worth the wait. For me the meal had three components:
Fries: I will give this a 3/5. They were slight crispy on outside, and soft in middle. My main criticism is that they certain over seasoned. The spice mix they used for flavourful, but I think they put way too much, I could not finish the fries.
Grilled vegetables: 5/5, the vegetables were delicious, my favourite part of the dish. Well seasoned, had the grill smoky flavour, and tasted fresh. I enjoyed all the grilled vegetables, egg plant, onions, and tomatoes.
Rib eye: 4/5, they did not ask how it should be cooked, I think it was towards medium. It was mostly tender, but slightly chewy. I felt the meat itself was under seasoned, it balanced well with the other flavours.
Overall it was a satisfying meal, my review is critical as this place is more pricey. The portion size was great and I think the price is fair for the quality of the meal, although I think there is room for improvement. I would certainly come back to try...
Read moreI've walked past this place hundreds of times, but never tried it. When I recently read that the mayor of Stavanger had to step down for mismanagement of party funds, including a trip to this restaurant, I had to try it out. The beef nachos were very good, perfectly cooked steak with a good pepper flavor fitting to the place's name. The fish with vegetables was a mixed bag. The puré was delicious, and the vegetables were tasty and had a good consistency, but the fish itself was a bit disappointing. A bit bland and almost watery; I've had much better. For the price I expected a bit more flavor and excitement overall.
The venue was cool, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The menu was a bit too limited if you ask me, one or two more dishes to add something fresh and unique would have been nice.
Overall a nice place to visit, I enjoyed the meal and would like to return and sample their lamb, which I hear is the signature. Worth losing ones job as mayor...
Read moreThe service was very good. I was hoping to see a more exciting menu, and it's not that I'm disappointed about the small number of items - it's just that nachos seem to be the main thing and I'd love to see some other exciting meals showcased more. The appetiser tacos were adorable and packed a caloric punch! I also enjoyed the "blackened" lamb, which was reminiscent of Christmas dinner. Nachos would have been too heavy and cheesy for me! Maybe to share? Anyways, the fish soup was definitely enough to share between 2 people. One margarita was enough for me, but Tequila enthusiasts may order more drinks....
