I went here with great expectations, which could be why I felt a little disappointed. The ambiance of the place is amazing. Overlooking the Al Mouj Jetty and all, but the food did not really back it up.
We went for the Turkish Spread Breakfast for two but was left unhappy, The spread was nothing great. More fruits and salads. The Shakshuka was really disappointed. I thought any Turkish place would not fail there, But, I guess I was wrong. My wife ordered the 'Egg with Sucuk' which was a saving grace.
You get much better spreads at so many turkish places here in Muscat now (dont want to name them for obvious reasons).
The Beverages we ordered were nice. Pomegranate was fresh and the Lime and Mint was refreshing.
I really wished the Breakfast was better.
PS: Spoke to the Management since they asked me to call back. They said that I could have reordered any dish I liked from the spread at no extra cost but that was something the Waiters did not mention to us not when we ordered the additional 'Egg with Sucuk' (which the better dish of the lot, BTW). They were gracious enough extend another invite to us; however, I have been conducting these reviews from the perspective of a regular customer rather than an influenced one and so I politely declined the offer—once bitten, twice shy, as the saying goes. Who knows, I might try again, but...
Read moreI recently visited Huqqa for breakfast with a guest, expecting a pleasant experience in line with their well known reputation. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had in Oman - Muscat .
First of all, everything we were served was stale and tasted far from fresh. The presentation of the dishes was also a major letdown nothing looked like the beautifully styled photos shown on their menu or social media. It felt misleading and dishonest.
While I understand that Huqqa is known for its upscale pricing, which I was fully prepared for, the quality and service we received did not even come close to matching the price point. It was far below what one would expect from an establishment that claims to uphold a certain luxury standard.
If this is how they continue to operate, they are seriously damaging their own brand and reputation. It might be better for them to either shut down this branch or change the name entirely because it’s certainly not living up to the Huqqa name or expectations.
I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience deserved to be shared. I hope the management takes feedback seriously and makes immediate improvements, because guests deserve better than what we...
Read moreI want to highlight the impact of Mohsin and Farouk — from what I gathered:
Mohsin and Bashar is repeatedly named in reviews as delivering excellent service, being attentive, caring, making people feel comfortable. That kind of consistency makes a big difference in the guest experience.
Farouk / Faruk also gets special mention — “especially Faruk” or similar phrases show that people feel his contribution stands out among an already solid team.
Their efforts seem to elevate the place: they help turn a nice setting + good food into a memorable experience through personal service.
My Overall Impression
Huqqa in Muscat appears to be a strong recommendation if you’re looking for:
A pleasant place to relax by the marina
Good Turkish & international food + dessert
Friendly staff who care about your comfort
A bit of a higher price point, but many feel the cost matches what you get
If I were you, I’d go for a visit in the early evening – enjoy the view, maybe shisha, and hopefully be served by Mohsin or Farouk if...
