I liked the ambience. They had places that were dimly lit and places that weren't. We went for the lit up section. The music was according to the setting. Slightly louder than the dimly lit places. But that was ok. It didn't over power the whole ambience and setting. 7/10
My friends and I tried their dishes from their breakfast menu:
paratha was amazing and the best choice out of all the items they had. 10/10
chicken qeema wasn't served hot but the flavours were spot on, not spicy but a really good pairing with the paratha 9/10
kaghina was totally bland and wasn't served hot either (it's an Asian inspired version of scrambled eggs) 4/10 super disappointing.
also had their sour cream filled omelet that was accompanied with brown bread, baked beans, jam, hash brown (typical aloo tikki and not a proper hash brown). The omelet was as the name said : sour. We were not expecting that hit of lemony sourness. It was that strong. Some liked it, some didn't. The omelet was fluffy but really hit that sour note. If you like a bit of lemony zing in your omelet then by all means go for it. For those who prefer a lighter creamy omelet with a hint of lemon that's supposed to be in the sour cream, then they won't enjoy it.
We also had their regular tea which was pretty intense and tea lovers would love it. Although most people seem to recommend their doodh Patti which we unfortunately didn't try.
In the end we tried their French toast that everyone was raving about in their reviews. Totally disappointed. Soggy in the middle, not crunchy enough on the outside. More salty than sweet and it took 40 minutes for this French toast to come. Yes it's huge but totally not worth it. Do not go for the absurd reviews that praise it so highly. I've had better French toasts, Nutella filled ones and without at other places. 2/10
Price: 5/10 varies from dish to dish. They have both highly priced ones and low priced ones. For breakfast items it is a bit on the pricier side. All these desi items could be had for less and they'd be more flavorful, elsewhere.
Quality: 6/10 paratha is their serving grace. Quantity: 6/10 Would I go...
Read moreSo here it is, you ready? I thing this place has a lot to learn about customer service and making sure its up and running at 8 am. If Chaayè Khana is to be a better provider of a reputable service and cater to the masses, I believe a breakfast joint should have their servers ready at 8 am which is the time mentioned on their hours of business. Now, walking in at 8:05 am I was thinking they'll be ready, but that wasn't the case. I sat myself down, and waited for the menu. At 8:15 I moved from the seating by the wall onto another table by the tv so the server brings the menu, but he didn't. At 8:17 I called him and asked for the menu, and I was ready to give him the order cause I knew what I wanted. So when I stated that I want such and such, he said sir ready nahee hain. I told him take the order and wherever you're ready give it to the kitchen. His response was I don't have the notebook, my response was simple order two things which are... sir we aren't ready yet, i don't have the book, and I'll forget your order to be punched in. That to me was strike 3! I feel this places glory days are behind em, and if they want to retain their brand they need to understand that they are providing poor service, and no apologies given. 3 stars for the chai... the Spanish omelette was just aright, not the...
Read moreChaayekhana Lahore has definitely taken a nosedive in recent times. The ambiance is still good. That being said, we literally had to wave our arms like baboons multiple times in order to get the attention of a waiter. They served the food at least 15 mins late.Profuse lack of coordination between the staff. We wanted to be shifted to the smoking area and were told that we could go there but upon reaching there,we were told that there was a 15 min waiting time at least.
As far as the quality of food is concerned,it was okayish.Neither very good not very bad.The fries were stale.
The staff really needs to level up,when it comes to professionalism and customer orientation. They are least bothered (Blame their management more than them tbh).No one visited our table. No concept of feedback or giving suggestion forms.
In short, my experience was just a tad bit shy of Pathetic with a capital P.They need to address the factors of punctuality, professionalism, customer orientation and food quality urgently before the situation takes a quantum leap for the worse. Not...
