Restaurant Oasis de América — Restaurant in Ica

We skipped street food these few days in Huacachina but still trying to find the most local spot possible. We got this recommendation from the local we went on a tour with, Mario. ‘Restaurant Oasis de América‘. The place serves Peruvian food set, Menu of the days (S/ 20-25) along with other items on their regular menu. VERY DELICIOUS! VERY GOOD SERVICE!

What I can say, this is probably as local as it could get when you’re around the Huacachina desert oasis. We got crema de rocoto with potato as appetizer and rice with beef as our main dish.

If you’re a tourist, avoid at all costs. I went with a friend and we received dirty looks, and none of the servers wanted to take our orders because we weren’t very good at speaking Spanish. My friend paid in cash and they not only tipped themselves 5 sols by not giving her back the full change but it now turns out that they gave a counterfeit 100 sols. We left feeling very uneasy about our experience and now feeling pretty taken...

Fantastic rooftop bar but the food was mediocre at best. Ordered the Carapulcra con sopa seca and it was completely without flavor or salt. It was served with poorly seasoned pasta - told our server and he said sorry but did not offer to change the plate. Basic lomo saltado. A friend ordered a salad with mango and they said that was good. Probably best to stick to just drinks...
