I do not think I have been treated so poorly at an establishment before. I came to Lima all the way from NYC and was incredibly excited to experience Carnaval. I made a reservation for me and a few friends well in advance. We got to the place 10 minutes after the time on the reservation and were not allowed in.
The staff said that we could not go in because we were late and the grace period was only 10 minutes. First of all, if that is true, then would we not be within that timeframe? Second of all (and the comical part of all this), our confirmation email and the bar's website both said that they have a 15 minute grace period.
However, despite all of this, the staff there was rude to us in front of everyone that was outside the establishment and did not let us in. I found it interesting that an establishment in the hospitality industry had staff with absolutely no regard for customer service.
It seems that they are resting on their loreals and using their accolades to profile people before letting them into their establishment. Lima is a place with MANY awesome bars - don't waste your time on one in which the staff is trying to make you feel...

There’s a reason why Carnaval Bar has been recognized twice among the World’s 50 Best Bars. From the moment you step in, the vibrant atmosphere envelops you, setting the stage for an extraordinary evening. I couldn’t contain my excitement for the cocktails ahead! The Carnaval cocktail was a standout—its presentation was a perfect 10, and the taste matched that excellence.
The bar food was equally impressive. The sliders, a juicy blend of beef and goat, are a must-try, offering a rich and savory experience. The prawns in sauce are finger-licking good, perfectly complementing the cocktails. Exploring the Alquimia IV menu, I opted for the Raymi cocktail. It was refreshingly citrusy with a hint of sweetness—a perfectly balanced concoction. The whimsical presentation, complete with a perfectly shaped ice stick, showcased the bar’s outstanding attention to detail and passion for mixology. I can’t wait to return to this gem!

Read moreReally nice experience, I loved my waiter, he really knew the products, he was very helpful guiding us with our choices and preferences, I think his name is Geyner , every cocktail has a little story behind. Presentation of every cocktail is exquisite, some of them are showy than others or it has more immersive experience , I don’t have any doubt why is listed between the 50 best bars around the world, maybe it’s a little bit pricey, around 60 soles each cocktail, but considering that a regular bar sells a gin tonic or a rum coke around 45 soles , it’s not that bad. Drink menu has a lot of variety, I personally prefer stiff drinks or sour ones and my companion in the other hand preferred more sweet drinks my waiter could guide us with that accurately. Bar is way smaller than the actual look on instagram, anyway is cozy. Another point to highlight is the quality of the ice, a lot of shapes and design for each beverage , they even have an ice room that you can get in upon request. Definitely a must experience if...
