Barra Chalaca – San Isidro, Lima ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This place wasn’t even on my radar — until my sister texted me about it mid-morning. No plans to eat, just to check it out and maybe sip something light. A couple minutes later I walked out wondering how I’d survive dinner.

Barra Chalaca is casual, vibrant, and clearly knows its audience. The Curatodo, their signature non-alcoholic drink, is criminally refreshing. If you’re into herbal, citrusy blends that feel like they could cure your sins and your hangover — this one’s for you.

The Choritos a la Chalaca were next — a dozen mussels loaded with lime juice, onions, tomatoes, and corn. I expected a small bite. I got a full seafood warm-up. And then came the Pan con Pejerrey, which was honestly the reason I’m still talking about this place. Crispy, fried pejerrey tucked into a sandwich with salsa criolla and just the right amount of spice. Classic flavors, no frills, done right.

If you’re in San Isidro and want something that feels like street food but lands like a full meal — this is it.

Pro tip: Come hungry. Or just...

Food was ok, but not wow. The only thing why I gave 3 stars cause of the waiters (even one of them is on the first photo on the description) they are totally unfriendly and lazy. I don't know if they have long day of work or because they are getting bad salary or this is how they treat the tourists, I don't know. Anyway I don't recommend this restaurant at all as there are tausend of restaurant in lima which much better and cheaper than this one. Hopefully they can read my comment and change from themselves instead of answering with please contact the management or...

Absolutely a great place for top-quality ceviche ala Chalaca, we’ve been here twice. It’s usually very busy at lunch with a line that takes about 45 minutes around noon to one o’clock. Come earlier or later if you don’t like to wait.

Today the staff was slower than before and we waited 20 minutes for a table and then 10 more for a server to take our order. (We arrived before noon) it’s great to sit outside but we had to endure ambulantes...

Small space so it tends to get overcrowded and prepare to wait for a bit; no method to sign in as it’s occupy as they go based on availability. Ordered the súper jalea and almejas a la chalaca en rocoto pero le faltaba el rocoto jeje. Definitely get the “curatodo” drink as its refreshing and delicious; la gente avisa!
