I can only give this place four stars, but it might be five. Honestly, I just don't no, and that's the reason I had to give it four stars. I'll get to this part a little later in the review, but for now, let's talk about the atmosphere.
I generally classify steakhouses in one of two categories; romantic, the kind of place you would take a girl on a date; business, the kind of place you take someone when you're trying to negotiate a better contract rate. This is definitely the ladder.
The eating area is dimly lit, doesn't include any noticable music, and generally includes a fair amount of people sitting around ordering appetizers and drinks. This kind of atmosphere usually leans more toward business, as sometimes people show up just to be seen, or may make a full dinner contingent on how the negotiatation is progressing.
The table arrangements were widely spaced as if to imply that business conversation could still be had in private, and the chairs weren't designed in a way that made me think people planned on spending a long time at a meal, reinforcing the power lunch vibe.
The service is impeccable. Everyone was very attentive upon my arrival, and no one bothered to question the fact that I wasn't particularly dressed up for the occasion. That might have something to do with the previously mentioned lingering people ordering appetizers, but no judgement on either side of the coin.
My confusion came when the menu was delivered. I've eaten at a lot of steakhouses, primarily in the United States, and this was the first time I found myself unfamiliar with the cuts of meat on a menu. Every cut, other than the Porterhouse, had a name with which I was unfamiliar.
There's only really one rule at a steakhouse, order a steak, so I decided on the "cartoon cut," a.k.a. Porterhouse. I had never had a Porterhouse before, because at a most Americans steakhouses, the ribeye and filet mignon are generally considered to be the best cuts.
We refer to the Porterhouse as a cartoon cut because it's not known for being the best, as much as it is being large. Whenever a cartoon, videogame, or movie character orders a steak, it's always the Porterhouse for dramatic effect, thus the reference.
The size of the cut means its a bit harder to get the wellness correct, but this place was right on point, kudos to them. It's easy to leave the inside too red is the flames are set even the slightest bit too high, making the outside a bit well done and the inside under cooked.
Overall, it was exactly as it should be, but I was still a bit disappointed that I might not be getting the best cut of meat available. Yeah, that's partially my fault, but I felt it would be rude to make the waiter explain every nickname on the menu (e.g. tomahawk steak).
In summary, it's a great power lunch restaurant, someplace where I might negotiate world peace later, but I could recommend it for a date. The food was great (notable a la carte as true steakhouses are) and the...
Read moreWe went to this steakhouse for dinner because our friends highly recommended it. We ordered around 4-5 dishes from the menu, along with a salad. Honestly, none of them were particularly amazing—nothing that lived up to the hype. I assumed the bread and butter were complimentary, but it turns out they were charged separately, which seemed ridiculous for a place like this.
At the end of the meal, I asked to have the leftover bread packed because I don’t like wasting food. They brought me a bag, we paid the bill, and left. Later, while checking the receipt, I noticed something unacceptable—they had charged us for four baskets of bread, even though we only ordered two. Was this because I asked for the leftovers to be packed, or did they just assume we wouldn’t notice an extra charge? Either way, it’s an unforgivable mistake. I don’t think I’ll be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend...
Read moreWe visited the Steakhouse without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised that the wait for a table was very quick. The food itself was tasty, well-prepared, and nicely presented. We particularly enjoyed the flavor of the meat and the sides, and the portion sizes were generous. We ordered a pisco to start, but unfortunately it arrived 40 min later and was extremely sweet, which made it hard to really enjoy. While the kitchen delivered good dishes, the service left a lot to be desired.
Despite having a large team, the staff were not very attentive and didn’t manage the timing between courses very well. Overall, a good spot for flavorful steaks and hearty portions, but service and drink quality could definitely...
