Has a lot of potential. Beautiful hotel nothing walking distance. Staff is the main issue here. Checked in after midnight but wanted a drink. Told the bar was closed. Turns out it was just rented out and would have loud music playing til 3am that I could hear through ear plugs.
I checked out the next morning to head to Cusco. Maybe do to the lack of sleep and my urgency to get to the airport I left my expensive toothbrush in the room (wouldn’t blame them for throwing away or maybe not seeing and the next guess taking/throwing away). I sent them an email which they never responded to, I later called and they said they had it same brand and everything but not the color but they chalked it up to the photo (grey vs white). I told them thanks I would pick it up on the way to my new hotel since so wouldn’t be staying there due to the noise and lack of interesting things to see and do in the area. I even ended up having a free night award expire because of my lack of desire to stay there.
When I got to the hotel to pick it up the man at check in takes over five minutes to track the notes and says housekeeping will come with it in 10 minutes. I had a taxi waiting outside and was told it would be at the front seat. Ends up it was a different toothbrush (weird that it had the same room number attached). I had to run so I asked for the Game number, they gave me the assistant GM. I called they said she wasn’t in her office after a long wait. I said no problem have her call me back. I get a random call later and the person does not even say who they are but just say I am going to transfer you. After a long wait on a call I am being charged for the call drops. They call back again. The assistant GM later gives me a song and dance about never losing anything in their five years. She said she would look for it again and promised a call back in a day or two either way. She also said she would have the GM call me. Neither call happened. I am on the way to the airport and had to give them a call to verify it is gone.
Again, I don’t blame them for the toothbrush it was my negligence, I blame them for the poor service, also ding them for the noise and the location which they can’t do anything about.
Update: They followed up with the same we have t lost anything in five years line. What about this other person’s toothbrush? Maybe that person has mine which is much more expensive...
Read moreMy husband and I were in Lima, Peru during May. With friends we went to dinner at Hotel Hyatt Centric San Isidro. In the beautiful environment of the new hotel, nine of us came to dinner at the Isidro restaurant. We live in different continents of the world: Europe, the USA and South America. We all have different eating habits, but at the end of the evening, we were all happy and satisfied. Sasa, captain of the restaurant, welcomed us. Sasa and our waiter Mario have very skillfully presented the main dishes, a map of wines, desserts ... in Spanish and English. Very detailed explanations of what the meal contains, how it's made ... I'm delighted. In our society there were three hesitant children, they did not know what to eat, and Sasa was very patient and accessible with food explanations, and the children were happy and satisfied at the end of the evening. The smell of freshly baked bread, hot, crispy, delicious, definitely increased our appetite. Appetizers, salads, main menu, desserts - everything was delicious, quality, imaginatively decorated and professionally served. The expected high standards of service, according to the five-star hotel, have managed to overcome all our expectations. The team was synchronized, everyone was kind. We felt relaxed. Great, great, great! We...
Read moreStayed there for a couple days. It was clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. No view to speak of. Standard corporate hotel.
I had some laundry done, and all of the prices said S/.15 or S/.50 on the laundry menu so I added it up and thought it was going to cost me under $10 to get a load of laundry done. Turns out they ignore the decimal point at the hotel and they tried to charge me over 500 Soles or $170 to do a load of laundry. I brought that up at the counter, the manager told me this is just the way it was at a 5 star hotel (which it’s a 4). I showed her where I added it up and signed it, and if somebody was expecting to spend less than $10 and got billed almost $200 wouldn’t that have caught attention? After some negation she asked me what was fair and I said $30. She agreed, and when I checked my bill it was $60.
In the last 3 years I’ve spent over $10k / year with Hyatt. For loyal customers they need to chill out with that mini-bar and laundry. Their loyalty systems aren’t worth much. I traveled 600,000 miles in the last 2 years. I spent a lot of time in the air and in hotels. An actual decent perk would be reasonable costing laundry for...
