We have always liked the food and ambience at this restaurant. After being overseas for 6 years, we naturally return.
This evening's service is totally disappointing. Perhaps the restaurant has a policy of no sharing, in which they should inform us. We ordered a lomo saltado to share between our 2 children. The usual portion is too big for one child.
Not too hungry, my husband and I shared a corvina al ajo. We also had bread with garlic to start.
We intend to order juices after the meal to ensure our children eat their dinner. So we asked for water for them first.
The attitude of the jefe and waitress is one of contempt. Apparently not happy we were sharing and not ordering drinks.
We were there in the late afternoon for chupe de camerones, coffee and tiramisu.
Yes, crazy to return for dinner with the children. Obviously we were not too hungry.
To top it off, we were charged S/10 for two glasses of water. Not two bottles of agua sin gas.
Since our return on 14 April, we have patronized the restaurant no less than 4 times.
La Tiendecita Blanca has just lost...
Read moreOverall, we had a great meal and the fondue was plentiful and absolutely delicious. The main reason I took off one star was because I inquired in advance if the Cesar salad had any fish within the dressing and the server told me it did not. After I got the salad to the table and began to eat it, another server who remembered I had said I was vegetarian came over and told me the dressing had anchovies in it. I'm not allergic so it was not a huge deal to me, I just immediately stopped eating it, but if someone were allergic or if they were strict vegetarian for religious reasons, this could have been a really bad situation. They also got our wine order incorrect now that I am thinking of it, but we were able to quickly fix that. I think some of the confusion happened because their system of service is to have everyone help all the tables rather than assigning a specific server to each table. At any rate, as long as you are not vegetarian and you have a little patience, I think you would have a fine time here. The fondue for 2 with 2 glasses of wine was on special...

The restaurant also has a nice selection of breakfast items. Healthy options are available in the various bowls that are offered. Peruvian specialties such as ceviches and Peruvian potatoes can also be ordered in this establishment. I had the Peruvian potatoes and goulash and both items were fresh and delicious . The service staff was courteous and knowledgeable and some spoke a little English. The menu was available in Spanish and English. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and seating outside is a great place for people watching. I would definitely...
