Visited in August 2024. Perú. Urubamba. Hawa Restaurant, housed within a five-star hotel, boasts a truly breathtaking ambiance. The restaurant's high ceilings, fireplace, and bright, spacious dining room create an impressive setting that stands out in the quaint town of Urubamba.
Food: The menu offers a blend of local Peruvian cuisine and a touch of European influence. We sampled a Caesar salad and several main courses, including grilled salmon, lamb ribs, and beef cheek with risotto. While all the dishes were tasty, they lacked that memorable quality that would make us crave a return visit. For instance, the chicken in the Caesar salad was dry, and the salmon was slightly overcooked, though still flavorful. My favorite dish was the lamb rack with mashed potatoes – the meat had a rich flavor and was tender and beautifully cooked. Overall, we enjoyed the food, but we expected more from an establishment of this caliber.
Service: The waiters were fluent in English and provided attentive service akin to high-end restaurants. Everyone was incredibly friendly.
Conclusion: This is a lovely restaurant, and it is undeniably the best in town. However, the prices reflect the luxurious setting of the five-star hotel, which are significantly higher than average for the city. You get a sophisticated atmosphere, excellent service, beautifully presented dishes, and good flavors, making it worth visiting. Especially if you are celebrating a...
Read morePretentious rich American/European food. Excellent service but don't waste your time here. Nothing really tasted exceptional, they got our salad wrong and gave us a Caesar which is just like a Caesar salad you can get in the states. Soup was good but the whole dinner felt heavy and taste/flavors weren't quite there. I have been to michelins and this certainly has the appearance of one but really nothing special. Just expensive fancy white people food cooked with some local ingredients. Go to Tres Keros instead just down the street if you want something really delicious without the fake grandeur stuffy atmosphere! Don't be fooled by all the hype on TripAdvisor or all those pretty pictures of...
Read moreDear Sir/Madam,
We were pleasantly suprised by Hawa restaurant by the standard of food and excellent service we had while in Tambo del Inka. The food was amazing and the service even more so. Fiorela who served us went out of her way to provide us with excellent service. She remembered our names and was always attentive to our needs. This is the type of staff that is hard to find. We hope to one day visit your fine hotel again one day so keep up the good work.
Best Regards, Gordon and...
