Bigby's — Restaurant in Cagayan de Oro

I'm a big fan of Bigby's! The place have good service, delicious food, sufficient serving size of their food orders, beautiful ambiance, and they have seasonal food offerings to spice things up now and then. Most of my experience here include small parties at their function area, business meetings, romantic dates, family gathering, and even on non-event/non-occassion (when we just want to have a hearty dinner or snack). It's a great place to be, and can help uplift your mood. My favorites here are their quesadilla (esp the sisig quesadilla), fudge brownie a la mode/chocolate lava cake, carbonara, twin cheeses panini, baby back ribs, Hungarian sausage, fajita, zen high salad, and their chimi cha cha (Mexican inspired) salad. After the noon mass at the Cathedral, my sister and niece decided to dine at Bigby’s saying they had salad and seafood.

Now, I love Bigby’s especially their Baby Back Ribs which is insanely tender and flavored.

But the salad (Zen High) is a disappointment.

First of all, give it another name. Zen means eating that is slow and deliberate in its choice. Shrimp and boiled eggs are not Zen.

Given that, these are the reasons why it was a big disappointment

a. dressing should be customer’s prerogative. It should not be added upon serving.

b. Zen salads are usually colorful, plenty of purple that comes from kale, purple cabbage and romaine lettuce. This one was mostly green.

c. The lettuce was soggy, so I suppose the salad spinner was not functioning? It should be crispy!

The restaurant design gives off a very pleasant and fun vibe. Service crew are very attentive. It was 2pm in the afternoon, late lunch for us after seeing a lengthy movie.

We tried their signature dishes- Mojo chicken - (chicken bbq on sticks, with Rice and fresh greens) Rice is good, we find chicken to be a bit bland and dry without the separate bbq sauce. (Could be better, our expectations are hopefully Aristocrat or Reyes BBQ level in flavor and tenderness)

Scuba Melt (Crispy Fish Burger) -fish patty is very crispy, and they used sea bass (not dory) -fries served on the side are just ordinary
