My wife was born and raised in Dumaguete and mentioned while we were driving down the boulevard that Chin Loong had been open in the same location since she was a child. For a restaurant to remain open in the same spot for decades is usually a pretty good indicator that the food being served will meet or exceed customer expectations. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon recently and I was surprised because there were not many tables taken by other customers. The food we ordered and were served was well prepared and very tasty. A rule of thumb I have followed at restaurants is if you can easily toss a stone from the front door into the ocean then order seafood. My wife had sweet and sour fish and I had the crab foo yong. We also had a large bowl of soup featuring noodles and quail eggs that was simply fantastic. Highly recommend trying this restaurant if you're in...
Read moreIt's a Chinese restaurant! I haven't seen many here that actually serve anything like what we have in Canada but this one is close with a little coaching. 😂 They don't put soya sauce in the friend rice like at home so you need to tell them to make it dark with soya. It's still tasty either way. Sweet and sour chicken balls. The make it, it's my favorite they just don't make it with such a thick coating on it. Hot and sour soup also one of my favorites. They don't use straw mushrooms or tofu in it and they make it with no real color. Just add soya sauce to it then you'll have both the proper flavor from home and they just use canned mushrooms. If you've been here a long time and are craving it will do the trick and make you happy. I've been there twice and was satisfied both times regardless of what the...
Read moreDecent food ,great staff on the outdoor streetside patio. I ordered the grilled chicken and rice and a San Mig lightCold San Mig was welcomed on this humid , warm Dumaguete evening. My patio seat was directly streetside with lots to view, including the poor street hawkers passing by looking for money and/or a sale of geegaws and chotskis. The grilled chicken 🐔 came served with rice and cole slaw . Chicken was a bit salty and tough. Slaw was decent and the rice.......well it was just a scoop of rice. 225 pesos for everything. Reasonable pricing with a view of the bay. Service was...
