THE BEST IN DUMAGUETE. No doubt.
This is located just in front of the Boulevard, nearby Bethel and other famous restos in the area. We went here for brunch.
Food: 6/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Cost: 5/5
First of all, the menu isn't just Italian. There were so many options that we got overwhelmed at some point lol. Not a bad thing tho. So here's what we ordered (for a group of 3): "Karne" pizza, large gratin, apple pie, swiss breakfast plate that comes with coffee AND juice, and tomato-based pasta (I forgot the exact name) with complementary platter of bread and salsa. All of that only cost 1,300+ including the service charge.
The free slices of bread were so good that we weren't able to actually finish our meals kasi it felt like we had too much on our table na. The breakfast platter was also big which really exceeded our expectations. We initially assumed that the pasta were meant for solo orders and we weren't prepared that the serving was really big (which was really nice btw so pls don't change). The gratin was the best part. None of us have any idea of what to expect with the gratin, but damn... it was so good. The perfect food for "foodgasm" lol.
We had a lot of leftovers, specifically the pizza which we brought home as a take out.
Walang tapon. High quality taste and big servings, a feast for 3, sobrang sulit for its price. Solid 5/5. The best. Kung nagtagal lang kami sa Dumaguete, babalik...
Read moreThis was another local-recommended restaurant, and we were so excited because we were promised good pizza, something hard to come by in this city I've grown to love. However, said pizza was salty and not as meaty as the description on the menu promised. The nachos weren't special either---heavy on the sauce but barely any meat.
I also wish that people would talk more about how dirty and dingy the place is. Sure, the decor is arguably charming. But if someone had told me that the place hasn't been mopped since 2015 and that the booth cushions haven't been washed ever, I wouldn't have worn shorts. My legs were itchy by the end of the night.
The prices are also expensive. No wonder it's popular among foreigners. Most locals would find those prices offensive. We paid 1,000 pesos for both dishes. That's not a lot for us as people who love dining out, but that could have been a feast somewhere with better food.
Anyway, after a year of trying restaurants around Duma, I am now disenchanted and have learned to manage my expectations. Unfortunately, despite that, this place was still a...

Food This place serves European, American, and Filipino dishes. Their Fish & Chips were good. Prices weren't bad, about P500+ per person. Meals include access to the open salad bar, which offers pretty good choices.
Service The place was bustling and almost packed but we still found a couple of empty tables. One need not wait to be seated, just walk over to an available table, sit, and wave for service. Service was quick considering how busy the place was. We were also surprised when our food was served in less than 30 minutes after they took our orders.
Atmosphere This establishment has served Dumaguete for at least 10 years, that says a lot. However, it somehow felt the interior definitely needed some sprucing up - perhaps, some fresh coat of paint, reupholstered seats, more generous cushions for booth seats, etc.
One can also opt to sit and dine outdoors facing the boulevard across the street, the view broken by busy vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Depending on the weather and humidity, outdoor seating would...
