I was invited to dine at a restaurant where I was able to sample some of their most popular dishes.
The nachos, a starter, were a unique take on the traditional Mexican dish. They had a slightly sweet flavor due to the addition of mango cubes, which was an interesting twist.
The bulalo steak was similar to a regular bulalo, but it was served with gravy, which added to its flavor.
The crispy pata kare-kare was another standout dish. It offered a different interpretation of the classic dish.
My personal favorite was the crunch pork belly with shrimp paste. The pinakbet rice was also excellent, featuring fresh vegetables cooked to perfection.
Despite the restaurant being quite busy that evening, the owners took the time to introduce themselves, which was a nice touch.
The servers, however, seemed overwhelmed and were unable to refill our water glasses promptly. We had to make an effort to get their attention.
Overall, it was a positive experience, and I intend to return to this establishment...
Read moreChanced upon this restaurant last night. It was full, til we saw a table for 2 in the middle, beside their utensils cabinet. Good thing our companion fell asleep, because if we're 3 we wouldn't be able to get a table at that time.
Tried the Ben's Salad for starters. Quite a lot of fruits, than lettuce. The vinaigrette was sweet and tasty.
Decided to order 2 platters, one with Pinoy steak, shrimps and calamares with garlic rice; and the other platter with baby back ribs, chicken leg quarter and tuna belly. For 2 people sharing, the 2 platters are more than enough.
Order took a while to prepare, good thing they served a clear soup. Still, we had to ask for the salad to be served whole other orders were still cooking.
Since place was full, the noise level is also high, with people discussing meetings over some steak. That is a bit of a turn off, aside from the order taking about 20 minutes before it is served. Staff was very courteous...
Read moreWhen my ordered salmon sashimi arrived and saw what it looked like, I knew it's not gonna be good. The first thing that I noticed was the colour. Then, the textures or the lack of it. Still, I tried to eat it, but my disappointment just added up. With absolute certainty, this is not to your liking, especially if you have already tried eating at any Japanese restaurant. Not recommend to order this. The baked mussels were good, and I definitely recommend it. Same for grill tuna belly, but of course, it should be given that this city is the Tuna Capital of the Philippines. Another disappointment is the service. I asked for a glass of water. There is a remaining grain of rice in the inside lip of a glass. I told the waitress about it, took the glass as if nothing, no typical "ay sorry" that you will normally hear. Mura la'g way nahitabo đ. Anyway, maybe I had those one unlucky day cause I can observe that the place is busy on a...
