The Salmon Fillet was outstanding. possibly the best restaurant meal I have ever had. Great presentation, blend of flavours, textures and, significantly for me, a very generous serving. Wonderfully designed & classy atmosphere, typical excellent Filipino service, a great menu including international influences like pasta and even Australian Wagu beef and NZ wines. Looked interesting on Google and is even better in real life. A gem and you really should visit if here in La Union. As for value? A couple of Asahi beers, two generous appetisers & two great mains all for less than $80 Aussie dollars - we pay more than that in Australia for average pub food. Outstanding.
Detail on my experience.
There is not much to see from the outside, parking is limited but there was always someone on hand to securely park the rental car...and supply umbrellas!
You walk into another world.....really clever design & very classy. Casual is fine but feel free to dress up too.
On the first night discovered they bring out appetisers and mains at same time! So if you want a break between courses you need to ask.
The ratings are relative. Nothing was bad, most were excellent or exceptional.
Appetisers
Super generous servings, really only need to share one for two.
Kerbside Curo-quettes (6) 5/5 - awesome Nachos Overload (5/5) - great chips and flavours, huge serving. Honestly big enough for a main! Chicken Poppers 4/5 - hard to get wrong! Messy Fries 3.5/5. Proper shoestring fries, but I would prefer it to be dipping sauces rather than drizzled. Less sophisticated presentation than other dishes. Salmon Gratin 3.5/5. This was a typical size one-person appetiser, but felt thrown together by a cook rather than chef.
Soup - these make great first course Butternut Squash 5/5 - beautiful Wild Mushroom 5/5
Mains
Salmon Fillet 5/5 Beef Short Plate 4/5 Chicken Marinara 4/5 Mixed Seafood Pasta 3.5/5

Read moreI read the reviews prior coming... I was not worried for the bad reviews, as they seem to be related to specific bad days, and honestly... it happens to us all. Couldn't avoid let mine also, since its worth it.
I was lucky to get an amazing experience. Food was delightful, well balance flavors, variety of options (specially, but not limited for foreign preferences if I might say, more on the western bkfast) and presentation of dishes (for me that reaaaally matters!
Aesthetic of the place, ambience, vibes, type of visitors... (it has A/c to avoid the hot weather and have a more peaceful meal).. in general the place was a hidden gem (when I parked, I didn't find the entrance without guidance, as on the outside is looking "bland", but once on the reception it was wow! The koi fishes make a remarkable touch.
I might agree that employees are not "as welcoming" greeting and smiling...but I also aware of the customers getting in and out, as well as hotel bookings look quite some, for which is tiring. While is not an excuse, they were respectful and diligent, which is more than enough! We also get tired sometimes at work eh..while they can definetely smile more to make it exceptional...their respect and responsability is great, so it will not disappoint unless you want a king/queen treatment (then go to Boracay or some other high end destination, this is genuine beach and chill vibe).
Thanks for such a...
Read moreA real hidden place hard to find. The ambience is great, kind of Bali Style, with a nice and soft background music in the right volume to have a nice conversation with your partner. The parking space is critical, only 4 double parker available and they are in terrible condition. On a rainy day you will stand up to your ankles in mud😡 The team is very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately we had to complain about our breakfast food. We had Eggs Benedict and Bacon Egg Bun. Both dishes were served ice cold, that means nothing was fresh prepare. The bacon was chewy, the bun in both dishes soggy, the poached eggs were cold and one of the Egg Benedict was completely salty and the Sauce Hollandaise was anything but NOT a Sauce Hollandaise😡.This only means nothing is fresh prepared and we got the leftover from the breakfast preparation. For a price of 380,-PHP for each dish this absolutely not acceptable. In addition to the breakfast dishes we chose American Coffee and a Mango Nata. The coffee that great, fresh brewed and the Mango Nata is a MUST HAVE😍. We would like to give higher rating then 3🌟, but because of the cold and not fresh prepared food for an exclusive price we think that is a fair rating. I hope the management can improve the quality of the kitchen and all food will be served fresh and hot. We appreciate that Coro, like many other places are using bio degradable paper back and straws the safe the...
