this place is NOT for you. I would have rated this place higher but I have gone to numerous restaurants and they could at least accommodate my shellfish allergy with 1 dish or something but that was not the case. The server and manager informed me that only thing they could recommend is just white rice and juice. Everything else is cross contaminated. They use the same oil and fryer for everything. Even the meats and seafood dishes that are deep fried are done in the same fryer they said. I asked about something simple like their grilled ham and cheese or bacon and cheese sandwich to be cooked on a cooking pan but they said they can’t do it. They said the oil they use is somewhat recycled and the pans too so it will be cross contaminated. Their soup base like sinigang uses a mix w shrimp powder in it they said so I couldn’t eat that. The party I went with ordered food but they seem to come out as single serving rather than family style portions. The vegetable dish only, I was told had some sort of cross contamination when cooking so I couldn’t eat it. The party of 10 I was with said the food looked good but the meat was hard and not as tasty. I asked if I could eat the Turon dessert but was told it was fried in the same oil that is cross contaminated w the seafood so I couldn’t eat it. The caldereta meat was too chewy for my party. I had requested to talk to the chef to find out what I could possibly eat but the manager didn’t allow it and said he would talk on their behalf so I had a mango shake which was very water downed. I really had high hopes for this place but it was really let down. Even the Halo Halo I was told I couldn’t eat due to cross contamination. Even the service was rated bad for me since the server spilled one of the water melon shakes and apologized but I had to call them back to cleanup since they wanted me to clean it up for them. I don’t often review restaurants but when my experience contradicts the good reviews, I want someone visiting the area to not see a fake review of the experience. This place is also hot since their fans don’t really help cool...
Read moreHad to try Kabsat because of the hype and because we didn't get to get seats on our last La Union visit.
My friends and I visited around 5:30pm and we had to write down our name for the waitlist. We were 8th in line and had to wait outside for around 30 minutes before we got seated. We wanted to get a table on the second floor for a sunset view but the place was packed and we're seated near the waiting area.
For our food, we ordered Bicol express, shrimp with aligue, and broccoli with garlic. The shrimp was good, however, it had a strand of hair so we sent it back (and we had to wait again for it to be served). The broccoli was recommended by the waiter, but it was just okay, nothing special. And we also didn't get to finish the Bicol express as we're not sure what part of the pig is in it. Price-wise, I think it's priced well/affordable and their portions are good for sharing, too.
They have a B1T1 free offer on cocktails so I ordered headwind and the red colored cocktail. However, when I took a sip of the red colored cocktail, it tasted like cheap fruit juice with alcohol in it. Headwind tasted great, though. But... I started having chest pains after drinking the cocktail. I felt pain on my chest that extended to my back area. I tried standing and walking and using their bathroom to ease the pain.
Their bathroom is not well ventilated. I was sweating profusely inside the toilet. And God, ang init talaga.
Thankfully, the pain stopped shortly after I left the bathroom. My friend asked me to take a quick sip to check if it's really the drink. I did sip and felt the pain again (less intense) on my chest.
Glad I already got to try Kabsat but I'm definitely not...
Read moreFrom the views, food and drink selections, to service, cleanliness, and hotel accommodation, our first experience at Kabsat was nothing short of impeccable. We were treated with utmost attentiveness, care, and service. When we got out of the car, I was greeted by the valet driver and walked me into the lobby with an umbrella. They took our luggage and escorted us to our rooms. At dinnertime, when our server saw me wiping sweat off my forehead, he immediately brought an electric fan over to our table. The staff and servers were THAT attentive and observant.
We stayed for 1 night and 2 days at two of the villas. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the restaurant. We ordered a variety of food and drinks from every category on the menu. Every single one did not disappoint and was cooked to perfection. It was our first time trying sinanglaw. It was served in a clay pot. Our kids were hooked! Their bar selection and bottle service were top-notch. The restaurant still had many customers coming in to dine in and drink, even close to midnight. Our entire party enjoyed every meal and after-dinner snacks and drinks.
The villas were very comfortable and modern. The bathrooms were large with rainfall showers. Toiletries were provided as well. One thing we take for granted in the US is toilet paper in every public place. In the Philippines, you get a handheld bidet attached to the toilet but no toilet paper. Our villas and public bathrooms had both. That's how you know they cater to both foreigners and locals alike.
Come to Kabsat to experience excellent food, drinks, service, views,...
