Gefseis is a bit hard to get to / find, but worth it for the food. We had the Lamb Souvlaki wrap, the Moussaka, Kanelonia Beef, Pork Ribs, and an order of the tzatziki dip (we ended up with two of those by the end). Everything seemed reasonably priced and portioned.
Mine was the souvlaki, and it was quite good, but it was 10x better with the tzatziki sauce on it. I'm not sure why they don't have gyros here, but that was as close as I could get. The Moussaka and Kanelonia had kind of the same "spaghetti sauce" thing going on and were good but not awesome. Both also benefited from the tzatziki. The Pork Ribs I just had one bite of but holy hell was it awesomely well cooked and seasoned. I'd get that (or try the pork souvlaki) next time I went.
The tzatziki dip was FANTASTIC, though it seemed to have some shredded onion in it (maybe?) it didn't suffer for it. I think it was 120p for another roughly two tablespoons of it without pita. I think they should put a dollop of it on every dish ordered for free, really. Every item was better with it on there.
The "home brewed iced tea" you can skip. It's not tea by any stretch of the word.
Smoking just at the front of the house, so that was easy and nice. Whole place is "outdoors" under a roof, so no aircon or anything. Go in the evening for the sunset over the ocean view. Service was attentive and good.
-1 star for not having gyros (the vertical broiler kind with mixed meats... that's what I was really hoping for) and for charging $2.50 for two tablespoons of delicious...
Read moreWe wanted to try the Greek food, and we were not disappointed with the experience at Gefseis Greek Grill and Restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was clean and inviting.
We started with the saganaki, which is a classic Greek dish of grilled cheese with brandy. It was perfectly cooked and the cheese was gooey and delicious. For our main course, we had the chicken kebab and the mix souvlaki platter. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The sides of rice and pita bread were also fresh and delicious.
The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. He was also happy to answer any questions we had about the menu.
The atmosphere was clean and inviting. The restaurant was well-lit and the tables were spaced apart, which made for a comfortable dining experience.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Gefseis Greek Grill and Restaurant. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Greek food in a clean and...
Read moreThis was our first meal in La Union last long weekend. That only means two things: 1. We were very hungry hungry hippos and 2. This review might be biased due to point number one. So take it with a grain of salt (Gefseis did because their food was extra salty haha)
The chicken kebab was good, juicy and there was a good amount of meat on the plate for only 240php. It tasted a bit bitter though, but I guess that's true for most grilled Greek meats. We had to pay extra for the garlic dip, which sucks since it's usually what I look forward to when I eat Greek food. Instead of white sauce, it comes with a barbecue dip. It was okay.
We also tried the cheese sticks (forgot the Greek name). It was very salty! But it was good to nibble on while drinking beer. Hummus was also tried, nothing special.
Overall, Gefseis made us happy because we were hungry, and the serving was filling for the chicken kebab! The other things we ordered, was all okay but nothing to write home about (funny I'm writing...
