Service gets two stars not because they weren’t friendly, they were very kind, but because there is no service in San Juan. I’m beginning to see that this is a trend specific to this area in which you need to order at one spot, pick up at another and then return your dirty dishes at another area. What’s going on in Elyu guys? Restaurant owners are playing this off as a cool concept but meanwhile they’re just see it for the money saved by not having extra staff. That said, it was dead quiet when we went and it was so awkward to be called by the staff to go pick up my plate when we’re seated 10 steps away. Incan accept restaurants where you just order at the counter, that’s fine, but then I want to sit down and enjoy my experience. But I digress, let’s talk about the food.
Honestly I don’t know why so many reviews have negative comments about the kare-kare. I may be a foreigner, but I like kare-kare. It’s actually my top Filipino dish and I felt that the one I got at Miryinda was great. It captured the flavours and the pork was exceptionally tender. We also had the tapsilog (tapa) which we found to be right on par with any other food tapa.
Finally we ended with a banana bread “a la mode” which was a huge portion and delectable!
Full 5 stars on the food here.
Parking? Forget about it. You’ll need to park a little away from here and walk.
Atmosphere was nice and quiet. No cover in case of rain so definitely not a...
Read moreI visited Miryinda on June 20, 2024. It's a restaurant located inside the terrace of a house. The overall appearance is cozy, although it doesn't have the typical setup of a proper restaurant. Cleanliness is acceptable, and they adhere to a "Clean as you go" policy. There were some flies around, but we managed by keeping the food closer to us.
The staff at Miryinda are polite. We tried their bestseller, Kare Kare with bagoong rice, which was excellent. We also wanted to try other items on their menu like the beef kaldereta, but it was unavailable that day. We ordered their pancit, which was more like pancit palabok than the usual pancit. It was a bit salty for my taste, but it was generously packed with meat. Their mango iced tea was refreshing, with just the right balance of mango and tea flavors.
We paid 530 pesos for two people, which included Kare Kare, pancit, extra rice, and mango iced tea. The price was reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food.
The pros of Miryinda include the great food and reasonable prices. However, the presence of flies around the area was a bit irritating. Additionally, there is no parking area, so it's advisable to plan ahead before visiting.
Overall, my experience at Miryinda was great. I would recommend it, especially since it's conveniently located...
Read moreFood My partner and I ordered the Crispy Pork Kare-Kare with Bagoong Rice (₱250), Beef Kaldereta with Garlic Rice (₱250), and Miryinda Mango Iced Tea (₱100).
Crispy Pork Kare-Kare: Tasted good and hearty. The flavors were well-balanced, but the pork could be improved as it was a bit tough to chew. If it had that melt-in-your-mouth texture, it would’ve been excellent. Rating: 7/10
Beef Kaldereta: My partner found it too sour for their liking. Not a favorite. Rating: 5/10
Miryinda Mango Iced Tea: Just your usual iced tea mixed with mango juice. Refreshing, but nothing special. Rating: 6/10
Service We arrived around 12:10 PM but the place was full, so we returned at 1:00 PM and got seated by 1:15 PM. It’s a pay-as-you-order and clean-as-you-go setup. The staff seemed a bit tired and less accommodating, especially when we requested to move to a roomier table.
Atmosphere The place is quite small and tends to get crowded quickly. It’s mostly al fresco, and while there’s a waiting area, it can’t accommodate everyone during peak hours. It also gets quite hot as there aren’t many fans. I assume they don’t offer dine-in when it rains.
Overall It was a decent experience. Will I go back? Maybe, but definitely not during peak hours. I’d love to give the Crispy Pork Kare-Kare with Bagoong Rice...
