Loved the ambience 💛 The overall setup, from the design of the place to the type of tableware used, gave off a very elegant and sophisticated vibe. ✨️There was live music when we went there on a Saturday (apparently every weekends as per their Fb page). 💖 I personally think the experience would've been more immersive if they played Korean songs or music instead of popular Filipino and Western songs (since the concept/setup of the place predominantly reflects elements of Korean culture).
Moreover, I would also like to thank and commend the staff for being so accommodating, courteous, and attentive. 🫶 My family and I really felt well taken care of. 🥰
As for the food, we ordered their Kimchi Jjigae, Yangnyeom Chicken (boneless), and Bulgogi Deopbap. All 3 of them were delicious! 😋 However, my general complaint so far is that even their smaller serving sizes relatively cost a bit high.
• Kimchi Jjigae a bit sour but not sharply so, with lots of kimchi pieces perhaps the generous quantity of kimchi intended to compensate for the lack of tofu and pork pieces (especially the latter) 🥲 really wish there were more the pork cuts could also be slightly thicker or bigger 🤧 overall, it was still a good, warm meal 💖
• Yangnyeom Chicken honestly one of the best I've tasted so far 🤤 the sweet, spicy, and flavorful sauce thickly covered every nook and cranny of the battered chicken that you need not any extra dips ❤️ also, despite the thick sauce, the chicken was still crispy ✨️
• Bulgogi Deopbap flavorful and tender meat 💖 there were also more veggies in the bowl compared to those served in other Korean restaurants 💚
☆ Verdict: Would love to dine here again❣️💖 Also planning to visit their Banilad branch as it is much closer to where I live 😊 Can't wait to try other items on their menu, especially...
Read moreMy partner and I had a hankering for Korean food while we were staying at the Shangri-la on a recent trip. Given the fact that there is a litany of Korean restaurants in Cebu and specifically in Mactan, we chose the one that had the highest reviews but also looked like it had a nice atmosphere.
Pungryujeong Pavilion does have a nice atmosphere, but that is the most positive thing I can say. The food is medicore, and if you want Korean BBQ, do not come here – most of the meat is pork and fried chicken – there are a few rice dishes with beef, but the beef wasn’t very good. I am shocked this restaurant has as high of reviews as it does, especially from travelers from Korea – it’s really just OK. You have to order from a tablet, and the menu does not work well, it goes back to the main page every time you enter an item. Service is not great, they literally brought out our drinks one-by-one – it took forever, made no sense. Portions are large though, so be careful about over ordering, we ordered way too much food.
Not that I will be in Cebu again anytime soon, but I would never...
Read moreStaying true to their tagline, " I'll only give you the best," Pungryujeong Pavilion offers you authentic korean food choices, friendly owners and staff, and quick service. They're another gem I found here in Mactan.
I love that they're open 24hrs a day and that their owners are very hands on. The place is clean and very "gram-worthy."🤳🏼
Do not be intimidated by their prices because most of the meals are good for sharing and usually already come with free bottles of water. The food + quick service + overall ambiance makes every penny worth it.
You can place an order through their tablets found on each table but if you're struggling with it (like me 😆), you can request for a physical menu and order through one of their staff.
What I had: Mozzarella Corndog, Seaweed Soup, Ice Cream served with fresh mangoes.
Only thing I wish they could work on is the music choice. It can be a little too loud and mostly korean ballads, maybe instrumentals, or jazz music? Just to match their cozy and relaxing interior.
Did I mention they also have a karaoke...
