In February 2015, Lao Beijing was introduced to me by a Chinese friend when she brought home Kutchay Pork Dumpling. The dumpling was really good though the wrapper was thick. Since that day, when I wanted to have a take away food, I usually ordered this from Lao Beijing.
So tonight marked my 2nd dining experience with Lao Beijing. The place was not packed and I was the only customer. Was it a good thing? Definitely NO. The staff were busy teasing each other and laughing so loud when I arrived. The place was extremely noisy!
I ordered Pork Ribs Noodle and Xiao Long Bao. Pork Ribs Noodle was just alright. Would be better with Chili Oil. The Ribs were tender. Xiao Long Bao was not something to die for. The wrapper was so thick (see picture). The taste was just alright.
When the male crew served my orders, he said "Wala pa palang mga ano dito (ref to condiments, chopsticks etc.) and the female cashier replied "Edi lagyan mo!" That same female crew also told 2 Chinese diners to transfer to another table because 3 diners will occupy the table that they chose. Mind you, those diners were about to eat their orders. Very poor...
Read moreThis original and VeRY yummy 😋 authentic chinese noodle 🍜 and dim sum 🥟 dumpling house REALLY makes perfect sense! Loved dining in although there are only 4 tables the place was comfortably spaced and not too busy at 5pm when we went. The staff seemed great and the order was taken and filled and served super hot and perfect timing. The only thing that COULD be done better is the place is certainly nothing special and clean and tidy and all BUT just lacked ‘atmosphere’ BUT amazing enough to come back anytime I’m in makati and it is just up the street! So lucky to have found this little slice of heaven. And what’s more they have frozen to go (take out) so you only need to steam the frozen dumplings and voila!! We had the beef noodle with chili oil and the hot & sour petchay dumpling hot pot and a set that included 6 kutchay dumpling and 4 XLB and cucumber 🥒 salad with a hot dressing. ALL of which was a perfect 🤩 10! And we took more to go! This...
Read moreIf there's one place i'll always go back to, it is LaoBeijing in Buendia, Makati. I have tried different chinese restaurant and food. I've tried the famous Din Tai Fung's original XiaoLongBao but I still prefer LaoBeijing's XLB. It's juicier and their chili sauce is so much better.
I live a little far from Cityland (I used to live there which is why I was able to try this resto) but I still go here despite of the usual traffic. I've tried a lot of food here such as xiao mai (not sure abt the spelling), spareribs, chicken, braised beef, etc but I always order my fave dishes here, XLB and Pork Ribs Noodle. The perfect combination.
I have recommended this to many of my friends and LaoBeijing does not disappoint. :) It's a 5 for me because it is worthy of my...
