Long post ahead to state our experience.
Me and my family ate there last June 9, 2023. Before we even try their food and service, twice we pass by the restaurant in station 1 and we didn’t see anyone eating there..we inquire for a bit and noticed there’s no pricing for any of the seafood as shown in the photo (🚩🚩🚩). The following day, after getting exhausted on doing water activities we finally decide to eat there since it’s nearby our hotel and is convenient for my father who is having difficulty of walking. We chose 3 types of seafood (prawns, clams, and squid) and also the manner of cooking.
I don’t know if it’s only us BUT…the food they serve tasted very sweet (garlic butter prawn is not garlicky, adobong pusit doesn’t have a hint of vinegar). We asked them to repair the taste of the 2 dishes (recook) coz it’s not really appetising to eat. They accommodated our request but still it taste the same. The clam soup is nice and tasty but the 2 other dishes felt like a waste coz we didn’t enjoy eating it with rice.
If this is the quality of food they serve for everyone, I wouldn’t wonder why there’s no customer in their restaurant. I think the manner of cooking of the dishes are not CONSISTENT, and it shouldn’t be that way, coz we are a paying customer.
Speaking of paying, when we receive the bill..I wasn’t only shocked but also puzzled with their computations. In the receipt we gave them 1 senior citizen card and 1 pwd card. We are not asking for big discounts but they cannot explain how they compute the 86 pesos (43 each) deducted ONLY from the rice and cooking fee (total 870pesos) — and not including the seafood. When I can sense that they’re not willing to do things the right way, we just paid the 3007 pesos and leave. Then I checked their fb page and I Google their restaurant, I’m not surprised with the results of the reviews.
By Philippines mandated law the discounts for SENIOR CITIZENS and PWD should be applied for the total bill not only the specific amount or service. I post side by side the receipt on the left (handwritten) is from Sugba de Boracay and the one on right (computerised) from one of local restaurants.
It served as lesson for me, always check the fb page and google reviews before trying a restaurant or service. We are not recommending this restaurant because we experienced not good quality of cooking and no integrity with their pricing and computing. By all means, don’t risk trying this restaurant/restobar, it’s not worth your money..and really a...
Read moreScam place. Avoid at all costs. They tell you they don’t have any seafood left to make you buy seafood that is in front of their store (make that make sense, a restaurant that mainly offers seafood dishes and they “don’t have seafood) anyways, they make you “buy” the seafood from the “provider” outside their place to charge you more. Their menu is completely fake because they show cheap prices there to lure you to but they charge you at an exaggerated price at the end. They usually do the picking of the seafood for you which you don’t see and then charge you a “cooking fee”. It’s a restaurant, and they charge you even more for what they’re supposed to be doing aside from the dish and the picking the seafood. Food is decent but a medium size portion of calamares, shrimps and 2 rice does not justify paying 2700 pesos (while in their menu they advertise those dishes to be between 300-500. Please note we were only 2 people that ate these dishes and we asked them to not give us a big portion because it’s just the 2 of us. They still charged us as if we were a group of 5. We came with family and they were also charged exaggeratedly. I think for me even though we were just 2 people, we were charged expensively since they saw my husband is not Filipino and they wanted to milk more money from us). Seriously, I understand Boracay is pricey but if you have to pay a high price then just do yourself a favor and just go to a nicer place instead that is worth the money. This place is located in the back of the main beach front and honestly look like the slums. Restaurant looks badly maintained and we were placed on the inside “private” section that you have to pass through a bathroom to get there. Hot and smelly. Totally not recommend. A tourist guide recommended us here and we thought it was a nice idea to support a more local business but turned out such a bad experience. Don’t usually leave reviews like this but I want to warn others to not make the...
Read moreAlso known as Jay Jay. Aircon room is super hot. It is better to sit in their open air place. Although their seafood is fresh, their cooking skill is definitely lacking. Steamed fish “Chinese style” tastes different because they drizzle too much sesame oil; it is one sesame oil drop away from becoming a Korean dish. We requested for tempura and what came is actually camaron rebosado complete with orange-colored sauce. Their staff defended their dish and said that it is tempura. (Attitude of staff: negative 25 stars; after they convinced us to try their place, and we trusted them, this is how they treat their customers who blindtrusted their word) I will post photos. You be the judge. Of course we tried to give the camaron rebosado a try and the verdict? Not good because of the size of the prawns we chose which were meant to be cooked in tempura style. Turns out, the orange-colored sauce is actually thousand island dressing. So I guess at this point, it is also not camaron rebosado but some tough over-fried prawn with thousand island dressing. What else can go wrong we thought? Ah, of course their rice is overcooked. They waited for us to sit down after ordering from their wet market to tell us that they have 10% service charge. Mind you, their price range is not different from the 4-5 star hotel we are staying at. At least we get good service there and cooking skills are top-notch. So if you are looking for cheap eats and bang for your buck, definitely...
