My boyfriend noticed that there were a lot of people eating at Komoro and out of his curiosity he took me there for an early dinner. This unassuming restaurant may not look much because it’s simple with minimal effort with it’s ambiance. Then you won’t think that their food won’t be as tasty or you won’t enjoy it. But we did, their menu was all affordable and the bento box sets were all sulit.
We ordered: Gyoza five pieces for only Php88. Not as big unlike other Japanese restaurant but Php88 it was perfectly fine.
Both teishoku set include rice, soup and fruits. It wasn’t as oily unlike other Japanese fast food restaurants.
Mix Tempura Teishoku (Php139) it had prawn, chicken and vegetable tempura pieces. Teriyaki Chicken Teishoku (Php169) chicken breast seared in sweet teriyaki sauce. The macaroni salad though I didn’t like the taste. This meal also included shredded cabbage.
Price ranges for dishes from Php 99 to Php 234, sidings Php 32 to Php 88 and drinks Php 37 to Php 45. If you are on a budget and craving for Japanese cuisine without feeling deprived. Check this...
Read moreKomoro Soba is like a pillar of SM Megamall. I remember it so well from my childhood, and since I don’t see it much, I make it a point to drop by here the few times I am at Megamall.
This restaurant was where I first heard of cold soba lol and it’s one of the few restaurants left that still offer decent Japanese meals for below Php 200! So for intense food critics, I don’t think anyone should assume crazy good food for the affordable price, but I think anyone who eats here is up for a pleasant surprise.
My favorites are their Chicken Karaage (sorry no photo) and their Udon. They got me into Japanese noodle soup before the ramen craze 🤤
I like to eat here past 8pm because it’s always full. If you’ve never seen it, it’s quite downplayed compared to other flashy restaurants nowadays and their store actually has a lot more seats now than I remember as a kid. Their menu also expanded now to include ramen which I have yet to try. They also really kept the same vibe and atmosphere all through out the years. Super classic place, don’t miss...
Read moreLast Sunday, after a long day at the mall, my brother and I decided to fill up before going home. We passed by Komoro Soba and decided to give it a try since the place is full which normally indicates good food.
I had Shoyu Ramen and my brother Tan Tan Men. We also ordered Gyudon to share. I forgot to add tomago so I went back to the counter to add tomago for both ramen. The lady at the cashier was busy taking the order from a customer having a hard time deciding so she took my additional order, gave me change but did not give a receipt. When our order came, my ramen had all the tomago. No worries, I'll just transfer some over.
Ask me how the food was.
While my brother's Tan Tan Men's soup was rich and creamy, he hardly had any meat on it and while mine has a semblance of two portions of meat, my Shoyu Ramen tastes bland. The donburi was neither bad or exceptional.
Maybe I should try again in the middle of the day. Maybe they are making do with the left overs since it is closing time. Maybe they just don't...
