Warung was a really special dinner spot for us tonight. The four of us shared a mixed appetizer platter with satay, chicken skewers, nasi goreng, their special fried chicken with sambal, a refreshing vegetable salad with peanut sauce, and an unforgettable beef rendang. The rendang was incredibly tender and rich — easily one of the standout dishes of the night. Altogether, every plate was distinctly Indonesian — bold, flavorful, and authentic — yet still carried a sense of familiarity that felt close to home for us as Filipinos. It was like stepping into another world of flavor while still finding comfort in something we recognized.
If you want a place that offers both authenticity and warmth, Warung is perfect. The ambience is cozy and beautifully designed, with a clear personal touch. What makes it even more remarkable is that this is a retirement project for the owners, and yet it outshines many restaurants that start as full-scale ventures.
The staff were incredibly friendly and patient, even staying late as we lingered past closing (thank you, and apologies for keeping you!). We also had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, who shared the lovely story behind the restaurant. The Filipino family behind Warung spent decades in Indonesia, and you can feel that personal history in every dish, in the décor, and in the way they welcome guests.
From the heartfelt service to the authentic cooking, Warung is a heartwarming and delicious experience you...
Read moreAMAZING food and spectacular service! This was my first visit with two good friends, and one kiddo. I am VERY impressed.
AMBIANCE: Beautiful interior, super clean CR. When we arrived the restaurant had 5 or 6 other tables aside from us. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. I imagine when it becomes busy, parking will be limited.
SERVICE: The team that helped us were extremely attentive. Our glasses of water never went below being half empty. Dishes that we finished were immediately removed from the table, and the two desserts (shared between four people) were brought to the table with four smaller bowls to make sharing easier — all done without a mention from any of us. Similarly, once we finished, the team came by to ask if we would like to pack our two remaining dishes before bringing the bill. As someone who has previously worked in the food industry for 7 years, this is by far the best customer service I have experienced in general, and also in Manila! Thoroughly impressed and grateful for the staff.
FOOD: Absolutely delicious! Portions are great for sharing! And the time between ordering and receiving the food was short. Presentations are as expected from the menu photos but much more vibrant than the photos.. The flavors are bold but not overpowering, unique but can be accepted and enjoyed by individuals with wide taste palates.
Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I will definitely be returning in the near future to try the rest...
Read moreI can’t recall the name of the dishes we ordered because I’m not that familiar with Indonesian names, but all of them were delicious.
Their beef soup was great, worthy to be in the company of the great Filipino soup-based dishes like the bulalo, sinigang, tinola, and pochero. Even their fried chicken was properly flavored and cooked, with the mildly spicy sauce that went with it giving it another layer of deliciousness.
The service here was also superb. The staff were quite helpful, and diligently refilled our glasses with water without being asked. The serving time was also prompt, with us getting all our orders within the 10-minute mark. Even one of the owners sat beside us and chatted with us briefly, adding a bit more personal touch to the experience, which was nice.
The place itself was quite nice, with a homey, comfortable vibe to it that made our dining experience very pleasant indeed. They also have parking inside their compound, good for several cars—this is rare among the restaurants in Kapitolyo.
The prices are on the hgh end of the middle range. It’s not really ‘fine dining’ expensive, but it’s not cheap either, especially considering that the servings are generally small (at most, good for two people).
We’ll definitely be back to Warung, as we want to explore Indonesian cuisine further, and Warung is a great...
