First time trying Kuya J Restaurant. I have been wanting to try them for so long since I have been seeing and hearing them for a while.
We went to dinner time, I think 1/3 of the restaurant is occupied.
Food: We ordered Liempo, Monggo, Chicken Sisig. I was expecting something more than ordinary since its well known but I was disappointed.
The Liempo is dry and bland. Sauce taste like Mang Tomas.
Monggo was served hot with some meats. I liked the monggo, there is something on it that is different, but my friend didn't like it.
Chicken sisig, nothing special, just normal sisig with egg.
Halo-halo, the ice is if I'm not mistaken shaved milk? There's not much ingredients. I liked the leche flan on top.
Portion: Chicken sisig its small but I think its understandable because its solo meal. Not worth the price.
For the Liempo its 2 pcs of I think 5 inches long and half inch width meat. Not worth the price.
Monggo, good for 2 people if you're not a big eater.
Halo-halo, good for solo.
Service: There are tables that are not clean yet so we just went to a partially cleaned table. My friend raised her hand to get the attention of the staff so we could ask to clean the table and have their menu, one of the staff saw us but he didn't respond.
I think after less than 10 minutes the staff gave us the menu and saw that the table wasn't clean, then he went away to get his things and came back to clean the table.
Their order list is recycled, I think, I'm not complaining though. What I mean by recycled is, they gave the order list upside down. The list itself where you put a check on the menu you want to order has writings already, so we just wrote our order on the back of the list.
Since this is my first time dining in to them, I'm not sure if this happens all the time.
My friend ordered liempo solo meals, solo meals includes rice and drinks, but the staff said they cannot serve the solo meals because they don't have the kropek and kangkong available which is free side dish. My friend told them, it's okay if there is no kropek and kangkong included, but the staff still insisted they cannot serve it incomplete. Then he suggested the liempo solo order, which has no rice, no drinks, no kropek, and no kangkong. So she ordered it, and added rice and drinks.
Then the food is served but its incomplete. Our 2 glass of iced tea is late. We have water but considering its a drink it should be served first not last. We're almost done eating when it got served, I almost thought the iced tea is dessert cause it was served along with my halo halo. Also, we have followed up twice just for the iced tea.
After eating, we checked the receipt and found out there are still incomplete orders. There is kropek and kangkong under my order in the receipt which we didn't receive because it wasn't available, they said. Well, I didn't know my meal also includes those 2, I thought its for the liempo only. I ordered chicken sisig by the way.
Then because of that we're confused why they accepted my solo meal but my friend solo meal that was not accepted? Knowing both orders has kropek and kangkong.
Solo orders are more expensive than solo meals.
Another thing is, we asked to take out the halo-halo. 5 minutes passed, it's still wasn't served so we followed up, again.
We didn't complain anymore since we don't have the energy since the service is slow.
Atmosphere: I don't why but when we went inside all the people looked at us? So the atmosphere is kinda awkward and heavy.
The place looked good though, the interior and lights were cozy. Just the tables are not...

We recently had lunch as a family to celebrate my nephew’s birthday—our first gathering together in over a year. Unfortunately, what we hoped would be a memorable and joyful occasion turned out to be quite disappointing due to several issues:
Poor Service: Service was extremely slow. Despite following up multiple times, our food took a very long time to be served. In fact, some dishes arrived only after we had already finished eating. The staff seemed undertrained and overwhelmed even the restaurant is not that busy.
Birthday Celebration Mishandled: I had specifically requested that the staff greet our birthday celebrant and help us with the cake I brought. Disappointingly, this never happened. We had already finished our meal and were still waiting for someone to organize the celebration. I eventually had to step in and do it myself, which defeated the purpose of trying to make it special with their help.
Food Quality and Availability: While the food was tasty, there was nothing particularly special about it. Portion sizes were small, and several items we wanted to order were unavailable.
Overall: It was a letdown, especially since this was a rare family reunion. The poor service and lack of attention to important details left a bad impression on all of us. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place based on...

Extremely disappointing experience. We visited on a Sunday and the place was packed yet there were only 3 staff members managing the entire dining area. We were only 5th in line but still waited over an hour to be seated.
Once seated, it took 30 minutes just to get our drinks, and only because we reminded them. The food came after 45 minutes, and even then, several items were missing or wrong. Most of what we ordered was suddenly “unavailable,” despite being listed in the menu.
The restaurant was obviously short-staffed and disorganized. Tables were left dirty even as new customers were being seated. It’s clear the staff is overwhelmed and not properly supported.
We ended up waiting nearly two hours for a meal that was incomplete and frustrating. This is honestly the worst restaurant service I’ve experienced.
To Kuya J management — especially @Jericho Rosales — please take action. Stop accepting more customers than you can handle. It’s not just about food, it’s about respect for your...
