Honest Review of Mad Mark’s Creamery & Coffee (SM North EDSA)
I visited Mad Mark’s Creamery & Coffee at SM North EDSA’s North Towers yesterday, December 24, 2024, around 3 PM with a few colleagues. We decided to give it a try despite hearing mixed reviews, and here’s my take on the overall experience.
Food: We started with the Overloaded Frites (P275), which was definitely the highlight of the meal. The fried potato chips, beef, and sauce combo was delicious—simple yet satisfying. This appetizer gets a thumbs up from me!
Next, we tried the Buenas Nachos (P290). Honestly, these were underwhelming. The nachos didn’t stand out in terms of flavor—they tasted pretty standard and didn't leave a lasting impression.
For the main course, we ordered the USDA Premium Steak (P499 for 3 sets), which was a great deal, especially considering the price. However, while the steak itself was decent, the sides were a letdown. I opted for the herb rice, but unfortunately, it was poorly executed—parts of the rice were undercooked, while other parts were overcooked. It was pretty much inedible. The Greek salad was fine, nothing special but at least edible compared to the rice.
We also tried the Slav Kebab (P299 for 3 sets). These were served cold, and much like the rice, the texture was inconsistent. Not great, but I appreciated the effort to include different flavors.
As for drinks, we initially received bottled coffee that wasn’t cold, which was a bit disappointing. After asking, they replaced it with cold bottled water.
Service: The staff member who took our order was friendly and accommodating, which was a nice touch. However, the food took over 15 minutes to arrive, which felt a bit long for a casual meal. The person who served our food seemed less enthusiastic, which impacted the overall vibe of the dining experience. I’d rate the service a 3/5 for this visit—there’s definitely room for improvement.
Ambiance: The ambiance wasn’t anything to write home about. It wasn’t uncomfortable, but it also wasn’t cozy or particularly inviting. The space is decent enough for a quick meal but doesn’t have that warm, cozy feel you might expect from a creamery or coffee shop.
Final Thoughts: I’m giving Mad Mark’s a 3/5 for now. There’s potential here, especially with their affordable pricing and some good menu items like the Overloaded Frites. However, the food quality and service need some work. The rice, in particular, needs attention, and the overall consistency could be improved. I’m willing to give it another shot, though, and I hope they can redeem themselves in the future.
If you’re in the area and want to try something different, it’s worth a visit, but manage your expectations. With a little improvement, this place could...
Read moreHi Mad Mark’s team,
I’m not sure if customer feedback matters to you, but I still wanted to share our experience at your SM North branch earlier.
We were excited to dine in since Mad Mark’s is actually one of our top three go-to restaurants. When my name got called, a waiter took our order before letting us sit at our table. While waiting, I started noticing that tables seated after us were already being served. At first, I gave the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe their orders were quicker to prepare.
Eventually, another group, who arrived after us, was served as well. Since we were already really hungry, I politely followed up with another waiter. He said he’d check but unfortunately never got back to us and just continued serving other tables.
What made it more confusing was that we saw the waiter who took our order seeming a bit frantic, holding a white paper, and even stopping another waiter from serving what looked like our food. However, it didn’t match our sides exactly, so it was dismissed. That’s when I decided to approach the branch manager to clarify what happened.
After checking, the manager said they couldn’t find our order at all. I was asked again what our orders were, but I declined to repeat it at that point and explained we just wanted to know if the order was even placed. We were then told it would be prioritized and ready in 5 minutes but by then, we had already waited for over 25 minutes, followed up with no updates, and lost our appetite for the experience.
The manager apologized, but we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. We were still hungry and willing to wait, but at least in the next restaurant, the food arrived.
It was honestly frustrating, especially since we’ve always loved Mad Mark’s. We hope you take this feedback into account and that future guests won’t...
Read moreNae and I visited this place over the weekend, and although we enjoyed the food and dessert we ordered, we were disappointed to find out that they didn't have the Lemon Anchovy Fish or the Cheesesteak Sammich available.
Here are the dishes we ordered:
Fat Chips Regular The "Fat" chips were rather small and underwhelming. The sauce had a hint of tanginess and could be used for other dishes if you like mayonnaise.
Pork Chop Steak (₱220) Nae ordered this and found it satisfactory and filling.
Shiitake Parmesan Alfredo (₱239) I ended up getting the Alfredo pasta which was decent but not remarkable. Unfortunately, the bread was burnt.
2 Scoops (x2) (₱209) We ordered two scoops, which meant we got two of each flavor. We chose Madagascar Vanilla Bean and Caramel Praline. The Madagascar Vanilla Bean had a creamy and rich texture, and it was heavenly for me. If you're fond of cookies, you can pair it with the Half-Baked Madagascar. The Caramel Praline had a good balance of nutty toffee flavor, and it was delicious. You can also combine it with the Madagascar Vanilla Bean for a unique flavor fusion.
Overall, we had a decent experience at the restaurant. Although some dishes were not up to our expectations, we enjoyed the desserts and would...
