I have been to three Yabu branches in the metro, and this is the fourth. This is my go-to place and choice when it comes to katsu. I always like their interiors, their food and services. This time, I tried their tofu and the tornado omelette curry.
Where have I been all through these years in my Yabu experience that only this moment I tried the tofu. It was so good. The crispy panko coating of the delicate tofu is so good. The sweet soy dashi sauce was perfect. I can't think of anything else but enjoy the dish.
The next I ordered was the famous tornado omelette curry and it was good. The aroma of the curry is strong but not off. The spicy and saltiness is perfect with the rice, egg, and rosu cutlets. As always, their pork cutlets, their panko breading, and crispy cooking are so on point that the meat is juicy, flavorful, and not dry.
Their side (cabbage, fruits, and miso soup) are refillable with the curry set I ordered, so it is a heavy meal for me. I really like their roasted sesame dressing for the cabbage. Their miso soup is good. The watermelon is sweet. Their houseblend iced tea is okay.
So, it was a wonderful gastronomic experience for me as always when I am in Yabu. The only letdown for me during that time is that they are not that packed with customers, but some staff were not attentive enough for refills or payments.
I'm sure to be back again soon as I haven't tried their other dishes because I tend to always order...
Read moreWent to the restaurant, waited in front for a waiter to ask for a table, noone was even near the resto, not even 1 person sitting or standing the waiting area, 3 people walked right out of us just entered the resto and was waited, i was shocked, the waiter then went back and thought i was going to be entertained but another person also walked right out of us and was waited. So i said to my companions, maybe we should just walk right in, seeing a lot of tables empty. The resto was 2/3 empty. But when we did what other people did we were asked to go back outside the resto and wait there. The waiter asked for the other person who just got there and asked who came first. Good thing the person was honest enough to say it was us. So the waiter asked for our names and other peoples names and finally got a table. The first interaction was when they kicked us out of the resto. What a rude way to welcome customers. Never...
Read moreFoods served were freshly cooked and succulent. As always, since this is not my first time to dine here. Based on their taste, you know that Yabu’s logistics dept is doing a great job in purchasing the best and choicest ingredients despite the pandemic restrictions. Safe to say taste and quality of their food apparently was not affected. The way they conducted the health survey, infection preventive measures and social distancing is quite impressive. The menu’s are just scanned so “no touch” system is observed. Presence of alcohol, masks, shields or transparent dividers per table and other safety precautions were thoroughly executed observed within the restaurant’s vicinity. The servers are polite and attentive to our needs and all were wearing face shield, gloves and face shield. Over all dining experience was almost excellent- great tasting food and safe feeling while dining despite...
