It saddens me to post this, as I have been a long time customer and fan, and I do hope that they get better…
Shakey’s is a dive!
Food: I know what to expect with their greasy thin crust pizzas (yum!). Although, I still crave them as they are nostalgic, other evidences are starting to make me think if the pizzas that I enjoy have also taken a hit on their quality. The mojos we got were bland, and the soda that was served was flat.
Service: Despite the place only filled to 25-30% capacity (and this does even include the function room), we found it difficult to get the attention of the waiters/servers. They would often hang out close to the counter and cash register, talking/waiting for food orders (it’s like they are not familiar with how long food orders take).
Speaking of which, as soon as we placed our orders, they told us that the food would take 15-20 minutes - great! Which sadly seemed like they spent 10 minutes or so waiting by the counter looking into what seemed to be an undermanned kitchen (now, I’m not a restauranteur but there were only 3 people visible working in the kitchen).
Over an hour passed, before I raised our concern that we still didn’t have our food - and the reply was, sorry po inuuna lang po namin yung mga grab orders. Now I don’t know about you, but that is not a response you want to hear after setting expectations of the food to be delivered in 15-20 minutes. By that time our drinks were warm and watered down. Were they waiters and servers avoiding these conversations where they had to provide updates: speculation…
Arcade: At least there was the arcade section where the kids could enjoy themselves as they waited - WRONG! All the units my kids played wouldn’t work properly. For 2 kids wanting to play and enjoy together, only 1 of the controllers would work or none at all! At 20 pesos a token and 2 tokens per game, that’s an easy 80 bucks if 2 kids were playing 1 game. Shakey’s could actually earn more here, than from the food, while families were waiting - but they didn’t even get this right.
Cleanliness: With all the soda and beer that we ordered, and no food, we had to go to the bathrooms, and this too mirrored the quality of what it has become. The bathrooms stank of urine mixed with air freshener, the floors were not cleaned, and dispensers were broken.
So much unused prime real-estate at 25-30% occupied, unmet SLAs 3 to 4 times over, lack of maintenance and upkeep…
Shakey’s has seriously given up! They have thrown the towel!
There needs to be a change in their value proposition if they’re going to start focusing more on deliveries than from customers who make it a point to travel to the actual restaurant. A restructuring, process change, and/or refocus are needed if they hope to retain visiting customers.
I honestly do hope that they wake up and improve. For now, Nostalgia aside, we do not intend to come back in the next few years (It will take a while for things to change). There are other restaurants that are cleaner, offer better service, and provide better quality.
Genuinely wishing you the best of...
Read moreHad a good experience in general, though need to take off a star for having an average service under pressure .. hehehe.. in fairness, the night we visited was soon after the thanksgiving assembly held in Ateneo.. good job to the guard on duty for being able to handle the queue & politely informing the new customers that they still have 10 pending customers .. but would call out the store manager for not providing kuya guard the list so as he doesn't have to mention how many pending customers we have every time a customer comes.. the need for me to follow up on some of our orders and non compliance on what was agreed during order taking (type of drinks & number of chicken, and additional pasta) is also a minus factor.. i believe this is why orders are being repeated, right?.. and expectation could have been set properly if the waiter did not agree to provide additional pcs of chicken in lieu to unavailable mojos. We could have placed a separate order immediately & has not to wait for additional time for everyone to have their share.. but again, kudos to courteous staff!. 4 out...
Read moreIt’s not the food, it’s the service. We were in high spirits when we arrived at 9 pm, Friday night, April 12, 2024. It wasn’t full. Only 30%.
Let me get straight into it: no one wanted to take our orders (had to stand up to just get attention), waiter tending to us was very grumpy, toilets were reeking with smell of urine, waiters didn’t want to do eye contact because they didn’t want to see the hands raised in several tables, and the final part was that they forgot an entire viand for our package and when called out, they never even bothered with a simple apology.
I couldn’t let this go because I love Shakeys food and it’s our go to meal for us in the 24/7 operations business. We love that they can take our AMEX CARD for purchase — except this branch. And the waiter lost all my details which I wrote on a piece of paper for the manual receipt.
My family and I left...
