Been wanting to try this restaurant for years already. Dined here around 1PM on a Sunday and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Service wasn’t bad. We were seated at the 2nd floor but server was attentive the whole time. Food took a bit long but we expected it since paellas usually take long.
What we ordered: Sangria - good! Would get this again next time. And it was worth the price for a big carafe. Chorizo croquetas - Lacked a bit of taste for us but it wasn’t bad. Went well with the aioli. Gambas - I enjoyed this dish! And it’s less than P400 for the dish, so it was worth it. Paella Chuleton (steak paella) - We got the smallest size and it was more than enough for 4 people. Generous serving of rice. The steak was good but they don’t ask you the doneness we want for it, so I’m guessing it’s all cooked the same everytime. It was fatty but good.

Customers on the second floor were going down to the first floor just to get the waiters’ attentions because no one was serving them. We waited 1 hour for our food to not even be served complete. By the time our main course arrived we were full from waiting lol. Understandably, it was a busy night. But they should have anticipated the crowd since everyone made reservations (they could have gauged how busy it would be). Anyway, parking here is also very limited so I suggest you carpool or...

I have always wanted to eat at this food heaven on a regular basis but since they closed their Kapitolyo branch, it became more difficult to do so. At last, I was able to go to their San Juan location and I was reminded of what I have been missing all along. Their Paella Negra remains one of the best this side of the world. The Chorizo Gambas was perfect. Iberian Chicken is a must, but it has to be pre-ordered. I like the cozy ambience Calderón has in its different branches. It sets the mood for a great dining experience with your friends. Service was, as usual, ...
