It wasnât our first rodeo at Prego Trattoria at all.
The place is somewhat cramped, but is designed in an authentic italian vibe at the very least.
We were then immediately seated by the waitstaff. We proceeded to order our usual italian staple favorites.
The Pepperoni pizza was decent. You really know its authentic italian style, but it lacks that star power that give it identity over other authentic italian options. It was still good though regardless. One thing to add, its just sad that they do not serve freshly crushed black pepper, only the standard ground black pepper.
The pasta came second. It was the aglio olio with shrimp. The pasta had a nice seafood savory flavor, but you can definitely compare it with the pasta you make at home. They also only use boxed pasta. It was just okay, but like the pizza, it also lacked the oomph that is needed to take it to the next level.
Lastly, for the salmon fillet, it was too greasy for us. They did not skimp on the butter here. Also, my wife says the fish has a pungent fishy taste but it was somewhat kinda ok for me. We both agreed on the excess oil for sure though. It also came out pricey at â±950. We definitely do not recommend people ordering it given these circumstances.
The table service we got was great, but we could hear over at the other table that their lamb was delayed and the customer became irate. The kitchen was also panicking with churning out the orders of the big party whom dined outside. It was chaos for the crew on their dinner service. The waitstaff came out to apologize to frustrated guests.
Overall, there are only a few authentic italian restaurants in the Philippines, and this is one of them, but for me personally, they are outdone by the upcoming flavors that come out these days. All in all, while I give this place a 4* simply for being an authentic Italian place I dine in frequently back when Italian places rarely come by, they are now outclassed by other newer Italian places...
Read moreWent here on a Friday night and it was not that busy compare to other restaurant in the mall. You can dine here to make chika and eat good foods. We were not able to dine on their indoor tables because they have limited capacity but their al fresco tables are fine. Well ventilated so your won't get too sweaty eating outdoors. We appreciate their free bread as appetizer because it was really good. Most free bread I've tried is boring but this one I'm kinda feel guilty that its free. Even with this good appetizer, their service is really good since we don't need to wait long for them to serve our food. Their food is pricey but its worth it. The serving is for sharing and the food we tried are so good! We've been into Italian restaurants lately and this is the best so far. We ordered their Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Shrimps and Four Cheese Pizza. I though we would not be able to finish our pizza but it was so good so even if we're full eating their pasta, there's still room for us to keep eating. The shrimp on their pasta is so good as well. It was properly clean and not over-cooked and I love how they opt to use big size shrimps. As evidence of how we enjoyed our time and food on this place, I don't have proper photo to add on...
Read moreWe came to Prego specifically to try their pizza. I asked if it was real Italian pizza and was assured it was â which convinced us to order.
What followed was a major letdown. I asked whether the pizza was Roman or Neapolitan, and was told it was âTuscan styleâ â something Iâve never heard of in the context of pizza, and frankly, that answer raised red flags.
The pizza sauce was completely flavorless. If they had just used canned Mutti tomatoes, it wouldâve been an improvement. The dough lacked salt and tasted like it had skipped the basics of Italian baking.
The only redeeming part of the meal was the iced tea â genuinely excellent, refreshing, and well balanced.
As for the pizza: disappointing, flavorless, and far from anything that resembles authentic Italian. Would absolutely not...
