This review is for Uno Grille, located across the street from Grandpa's inn
There is a beautiful massive mango tree covering the majority of the dining area.
I think this restaurant is affiliated with Grandpa's inn. And I don't know. Maybe they are the same affiliation. Because waiters and hotel staff are walking back and forth between the two establishments. But the food tastes slightly different, Maybe I would give the flavor a 4 out of 10. The wait staff is not as attentive, and the prices are higher. On 2 separate occasions, the wait staff at Uno Grille came to our room asking for more money to cover our check. Like as if they were not keeping track of the food that we purchased. I had so much to drink that I wasn't keeping track either. But I paid the bill the first time and we left the restaurant. A few moments later, the waiter came knocking at the door asking for a little more money to cover the bill because it wasn't added up properly. And then maybe 15 minutes after that. They came knocking at the door again. Asking for more money because they still did not add up the bill properly. I could not tell you how much I ended up paying for our meal that night. I just thought...
ย ย ย Read moreThe second time I was here was actually in December 2020 (the Pandemic Era) to simply buy a cake. The staff were as courteous, friendly and accommodating as I remembered them to be the first time I was there in 2017 for the Holy Week. We wanted to have lunch there but Cafe Uno was full (in 2017), and the staff suggested that we try the one in front of Cafe Uno called Uno Grille. It turns out that Uno Grille was also a good place.
But what I remember most distinctly about 2017 was the parking attendant for Cafe Uno. He immediately helped us park - in a very busy and congested "pre-pandemic" and Holy Week(!!!) Vigan - and did not want to accept the tip/money that my girlfriend/driver was giving him. He only accepted the tip when my girlfriend said (with pagpapa-cute): "magtatampo ako sa 'yo kapag hindi mo 'to kukunin." My admiration for the people of Vigan soared to stratospheric heights!
After the lunch at Uno Grille, we had dessert/cakes...

We seated ourselves, got the menus ourselves from another table, and even gave the menus to visitors that arrived after us. Cleanliness was also very lacking on the serverโs behalf. Having lived in Vigan for a couple of months, this is one of the places I choose to โgo out with friendsโ. Itโs nicely decorated and they can seat up to 10 in a table. I also like that they accept Visa. Moderately priced. However, more often than not, an item you want to order is not available. Service is good since thereโs usually several servers. The Mexican items arenโt exactly Mexican (ie alfalfa sprouts on nachos). Spaghetti dishes are usually good and the French toast (which are more like grilled sandwiches). They also have several...
