“No windows, no worries — but maybe slow down the upsell next time?”
Our check-in at Hotel Luna Annex started with a twist: instead of a “Welcome to Vigan!” we were met by a very efficient security guard and a doorman who intercepted us like we were trying to sneak past customs. No “good afternoon,” no “how can we help you?” — just a swift redirection back to the street and an escort march to the main hotel a block away. 🫡
To their credit, the doorman walked us himself (shout out for the steps, kuya), and as we entered the lovely main hotel lobby, the front desk staff briskly ended a call and checked us in. ✅ Reservation? Found. ✅ Name? Correct. ✅ Pleasant pause? Not quite.
What followed was a speed-run monologue that would make a carnival barker proud: “You’re in the Annex. You could upgrade for 500 pesos. The main hotel has a museum, restaurant, elevator. The Annex has no windows. And stairs. Only stairs. No windows.” 🧱 Cue: wife and I exchanging ‘wait—did she say no windows??’ glances.
Yes, she did. Twice. For effect.
We politely declined the upsell, even though it did feel a little like we’d booked steerage on the Titanic. 🛳️ “It’s fine,” we thought — we were here to walk the town, soak in the heritage, and sleep for a few hours, not reenact Rapunzel.
Now, to be fair: ✨ The Annex itself is charming, clean, historically themed, and not at all the dungeon vibe you’d fear from the windowless disclaimer. ✨ The design is tasteful, the bed comfy, and the overall vibe more “boutique cloister” than prison cell.
But here’s the thing: while every hotel tries to upsell, tone matters. The way it was pitched made it feel like we had purchased the “meh” version of the experience, rather than being welcomed warmly as paying guests with the option to enhance our stay.
BOTTOM LINE: 📍 Hotel Luna (and its Annex) is a beautiful place to rest in the heart of Vigan — just prepare for a plot twist at check-in. If they slowed the pitch, softened the tone, and led with the charm instead of the sales script, it would be a 5-star welcome in a 3-star setting.
Come for the history, stay for the aircon — and embrace the windowless wonder of Vigan like you’re in a heritage-themed speakeasy. 😉

Very inconvenient for me with kids. My daughter and I almost got hit by a man in a motorcycle. He pass through between me and my daughter. Thank God we were not hurt.. Crazy motorist never slowing down. And the hotel guard was in the hotel lobby all the time. He can never know what's happening outside. A pedestrian lane would help. But there's none. If you stay here, remember to cross the street at...
